Davies (1948, 111) recorded that there was an early church here, apparently a short distance to the NE of the present church. Not visible at ground level. Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 23m) enclosed by an earthen bank and vague traces of a fosse. A later field boundary has been superimposed on the bank at N rendering it square in plan on this side. Original entrance may be represented by a break in bank at NE. ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage)

- Farm house, 1800–1840, Regional interest, registry number 40402706, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV&regno=40402706. Detached four-bay single-storey lobby-entry vernacular farmhouse, built c.1820, with advanced flat-roofed porches added to front and rear elevations, c.1960. Now disued. Pitched corrugated-iron roof, galvanised rainwater goods, rendered brick chimneystacks indicating tripartite internal division. Roughcast cement-rendered walls with smooth eaves and plinth course and raised end pilasters. Two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows with raised stucco surrounds and heavy stone sills. Flat-roofed porch on front elevation having part-glaxed door to side. Full height timber battened door to rear porch. Later nineteenth-century three-bay outbuilding forming half-courtyard layout. Set on corner site enclosed on two sides by low roughcast rendered walls with profiled coping, square-profile piers with stone caps and forged-iron pedestrian gate and matching double-leaf vehicular gates.

Detached three-bay two-storey farmhouse, built c.1920, with two-storey return, single-storey entrance porch. Hipped slate roof, clay ridge tiles, tall red brickstacks with yellow brick decorative band. Replacement uPVC rainwater goods. Ruled-and-lined rendered walls to ground floor below a stucco platband under first floor sills, rusticated stucco quoins, and pebbledash to first floor. Roughcast rendered walls to rear elevation and return. Flat roofed porch having ruled-and-lined rendered walls and gadroon-profiled concrete pediment as blocking course. One-over-one timber sliding sash windows with wide margin panes, raised stucco architrave, and stone sills. Replacement door and side lights. Vernacular building attached to east gable serving as side entrance porch having a curved corrugated iron roof and cast-iron rainwater goods. Early vernacular farmhouse complex, c.1820, retained within farmyard to the south-east. Pitched corrugated-iron roofs and timber battened doors.

A townland is the smallest land division of Ireland, and the unit of a rural address; old registers such as the 1901 and 1911 censuses file it under its civil parish and barony.
