Marked 'Fort' and indicated as a circular enclosure (int. diam. c. 40m) on the OS 1836 and 1876 eds. Site is divided into two unequal portions by a field boundary running NNE-SSW. A raised area enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and traces of a fosse is visible WNW of the boundary. The larger portion ESE of this has been levelled. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). Conjoined raths now separated by a laneway which probably overlies a fosse. The NW rath comprises a raised circular area (int. diam. c. 37m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and traces of a fosse. From NNE-SE bank has been modified and incorporated into field boundary. It is accompanied by a modern narrow external trench. From SE-S-W and from NW-N-NNE fosse has been destroyed and replaced by a laneway. Original entrance not recognisable. The SE rath comprises a raised circular area (int. diam. c. 34m) enclosed by a wide, shallow fosse and substantial earthen bank. Original entrance at SE. - Drumacarrow House, farm house, 1790–1830, Regional interest, registry number 40403402, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV&regno=40403402. Detached three-bay two-storey vernacular farmhouse, built c.1810, with irregularly fenestrated rear elevation having projecting windbreak porch. Pitched articifial slate roof with red brick chimneystacks flanking centre bay and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast render worn to expose coursed rubble stone masonry with dressed limestone block-and-start quoins. Two-over-two timber sliding sash windows to front elevation, four-over-four and six-over-six timber sliding sash windows to rear, all with limestone sills. Replacement uPVC door to front and timber battened door to rear porch. Farmyard comprising three ranges of outbuildings, two single-storey ranges with galvanised roofs and one two-storey building with slate roof. Smooth-rendered wing walls and piers with forged ironwork gates to entrance.
