Subrectangular area (int. dims c. 42m NW-SE; 37m NE-SW) cut off from the mainland by fragmentary traces of a scarp with wide, shallow, external fosse (Wth c. 4m). Scarp is identifiable only from SE-S-SW. Davies (ITA Survey 1942) recorded 'a rather sunken causeway' at S which he believed probably represented the original entrance. At the centre of the internal area and in the W quadrant the ground level is much disturbed as a consequence of digging. Raised circular area (int. diam. 27m) enclosed by a low earthen bank and the remains of a narrow fosse from W-S-SE. At NW the curve of the bank has been straightened and drystone walling applied to its outer face. From NE-E-SE the perimeter has been levelled and modern buildings occupy the site. Bank has also been levelled from N-NW. Laneway cuts through perimeter at W and runs through the interior to SE. Internal area has been planted with trees. Pair of detached multiple-bay three-storey mill buildings, built c.1800, having corrugated-iron lean-to to north of west building. Now disused. Pitched slate roof, cast-iron and replacement rainwater goods. Rubble stone walls having brick quoins and brick dressed openings to west building and stone opening to east building. Windows to first and second floor of west elevation, door opening to east elevation, and segmental arch and first floor door opening over to south gable of west building. Window openings to south gable and square-headed water opening to south corner of east building. Remnants of two-over two sash windows and sheeted timber doors to west building. Set back from the road, with river to south and former dam and mill pond to west. - The Manse, manse, 1880–1900, Regional interest, registry number 40402803, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV®no=40402803. Detached L-plan three-bay two-storey former manse, built c.1890, having central gabled dormer window, gabled entrance porch to south gable, three-bay wing to rear with dormer windows having carriage arch in western bay and connecting to two-storey outbuilding. Recent lean-to extension to south of rear wing incorporating roof canopy over carriage arch and conservatory to north. Now in use a private dwelling. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles having low eaves forming central gablet to dormer window, spiked finials to gable apexes. Stucco eaves cornice and verge moulding to dormer gable. Red brick chimneystacks to gables having stepped cornice detail and clay pots. Cast-iron rainwater goods having decorative square profile with decorative lugs to front elevation and porch. Smooth rendered walls with raised plinth, plat band at dormer sill level and below eaves cornice. Raised render band to corners and end gable verges. One-over-one timber sash windows having dressed stone sills. Raised render window surround to side of entrance porch. Square-headed door opening having sheeted timber door, coloured glass to decorative overlight, and flanked by bell with spiked finial. Site entrance shared with adjoining former Presbyterian church having two sets of wrought-iron gates with rendered convex quadrant screen wall and square-plan piers.
