Hipped natural slate roof with deep oversailing eaves having timber soffit supported by paired timber brackets. Rendered stacks to rear wall and return. Squared and snecked quarry faced cut-stone walls with large corner stones. Red brick block-and-start surrounds and cut-stone sills to bipartite multiple-pane timber casement windows, segmental-arched recesses with similar brick surrounds to taller ground floor windows. Bipartite two-over-two timber sash windows to upper level of north elevation facing over demesne wall to road. Gate screen, built c.1840, now disused. Square-profile cut stone gate piers with moulded stone cornice detail and chamfered plinth. Wrought-iron gates with fluer-de-lys finials to balusters and dog-bars, scrollwork beneath top rail. Gate piers flanked by high rubble stone wall with half-barrel rubble stone coping and having integral square-headed pedestrian side entrance with sheeted timber door to east. Single-arch stone road bridge, built c.1800, carrying public road over private road. Squared rubble stone abutments, spandrels and low parapet. Detached Tudor Gothic revival L-plan three-bay single-storey with dormer attic former gate lodge, built c.1855, with central gabled breakfront entrance flanked by parapeted canted window bays. Replacement pitched slate roof with oversailing eaves and verge, plain replacement bargeboards with historic spiked finial to entrance and gable ends. Rendered chimneystacks with chamfered corners and cornice. Rendered walls with moulded parapets to canted bay windows. Mullioned and transomed openings to bay windows with with interlaced hexagonal glazing bar pattern and chamfered sills. Replacement uPVC to other windows. Central door in moulded stucco surround with panelled timber door. Set back from the road inside gatescreen of elaborate cast-iron design. - Battleaxe Gate Lodge, demesne walls/gates/railings, 1850–1860, Regional interest, registry number 40402018, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV®no=40402018. Cast-iron gate screen, built c.1855. Cast-iron piers composed of groups of nine battleaxes with shafts bound with bundles of rods on moulded stone plinth, battleaxe heads forming top of piers held together by guilloche-patterned binding. Double-leaf gates decorated with floral and foliated patterns, husks to bars, fleur-de-lys finials, and battleaxe-head finial to slam bar. Gates flanked by screen of railings of identical design. Outer rendered gate piers surmounted by quadruped ironwork pedestals with baronial coronets representing the rank of Baron Farnham.
