Raised oval area (int. dims. 41.6m N-S; 31.4m E-W) enclosed by a substantial although largely collapsed drystone wall which has been denuded at SW, N and SE. Original entrance not recognisable. Internal area has been planted with trees and supports scrub. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage)

- Tuam House, house, 1840–1860, Regional interest, registry number 40400205, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV&regno=40400205. Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1850, with two-storey canted bay windows to side elevations. Recent flat roofed porch to rear. U-plan hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks to inner rear slopes, cast-iron rainwater goods on timber fascia. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered quoins and plinth course. Window openings with painted stone sills, patent reveals and two-over-two timber sash windows, one-over-one timber sash windows to side sashes of bay windows, six-over-six sash window and recent louvred glass window to rear. Round-headed opening to front door with fanlight over recent timber panelled double-leaf door, approached by two steps. Square-headed door opening to west elevation. Setback from road behind forged iron gates supported by sandstone piers. Detached two-storey rubble stone outbuilding to rear.
- Blacklion Methodist Church, church/chapel, 1845–1850, Regional interest, registry number 40400206, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV&regno=40400206. Freestanding Gothic Revival style Methodist church, built 1849, with four-bay side elevation to nave, single-storey gabled entrance porch to east gable, single-storey block added to rear, with recent extension. Pitched artificial slate roof with concrete eaves and barges and replacement uPVC rainwater goods. Ruled-and-lined rendered walls to front (south) elevation and gables, roughcast rendered walls to rear (north) and extensions, with smooth rendered plinth course. Stone plaque to porch gable apex inscribed "Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, AD 1849". Pointed arch window openings to front and rear elevations, with rendered surrounds to rear, recent timber multiple paned windows to front, and leaded stained glass windows to rear. Pointed arch entrance door to east of porch with recent tongue-and-grooved timber door and single sandstone step. Timber wainscot and historic pews to interior. Raised podium to west end having central wall memorial of carved stone. Cut-sandstone piers in rubble stone boundary wall with crenellated copings.

Detached four-bay single-storey house, built c.1940, with later single-storey extension to rear. Pitched roof with artificial slate roof, rendered chimneystacks, timber bargeboards and uPVC rainwater goods on timber fascia. Corrugated-iron sheeting to walls. Rendered walls to rear extension. Square-headed window openings having timber sills, window surrounds, and casement windows. Glazed timber panelled door. Setback from road on raised ground.
- Olive Grove, house, 1860–1865, Regional interest, registry number 40400208, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV&regno=40400208. End-of-terrace four-bay three-storey former house, built 1862, later in also in use as retail outlet, now in use as restaurant and guest accommodation. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, cement rendered chimneystacks to gable end and party-wall, stone eaves corbel and replacement uPVC rainwater goods. Smooth rendered walls with raised plinth and platband at first floor sill level. Window openings of equal size to first and second floors with patent reveals, stone sills, and six-over-six timber sliding sash windows having convex horns. Wider three-over-three sash windows in altered openings to ground floor. Variety of timber sashes and with replacement uPVC windows to rear. Small attic windows to west gable. Round-headed entrance with raised render keystone and surround having spoked fanlight over timber four-panelled door with bolection mouldings. Detached two-storey outbuilding with pitched slate roof and rubble stone walls to rear. Opens directly to pavement.
- The Market House, market house, 1820–1840, Regional interest, registry number 40400209, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CV&regno=40400209. Corner-sited attached three-bay two-storey former market house, built c.1830, with gable front facing east to side street, later two-storey extension to rear. Restored c.2000 and now in use as tourist centre and gift shop. Pitched slate roof with stone ridge tiles, sandstone barge coping and corbelled kneelers, cut-stone chimneystacks to gable and party-wall, rooflight to north, replacement uPVC rainwater goods. Quarry-faced coursed sandstone walls, with dressed stone details, two tie-bars with S-shaped restraining straps to front elevation, round clock face below apex of east gable in raised dressed surround. Square-headed window openings to first floor and pair of windows to upper level of gable with finely punched stone surrounds and six-over-six timber sash windows. Wide elliptical arched opening to centre bay with dressed voussoirs and multiple paned timber windows c.2000. Square-headed openings to outer bays with flush dressed lintel and surround, with door to west and six-over-six timber sash window to east. Similar elliptical-arched opening to gable with dressed voussoirs and multiple paned timber windows and central door of c.2000. Interior extensively renovated c.2000.
