In a partly cleared and subdivided field of coarse pasture and limestone outcrop, within a relict field system (CL009-004001-) and a larger multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). Indicated on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This almost circular cashel (int. dims. 20m N-S; 19.5m E-W) is defined by a low grassed-over collapsed stone spread (Wth 1.8-2m). Outer wall-facing is visible intermittently from W-NE, and is best preserved at W, but no trace of the inner wall-face survives. The interior is raised c. 1m above the outer ground level. Several small piles of rubble along the perimeter suggest earlier attempts at field clearance. An overgrown field wall abuts it at WSW. There is another cashel (CL008-004003-) c. 86m to the SE. Within a large field of coarse pasture and limestone outcrop, within a relict field system (CL009-004001-) and a larger multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). Hachured on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This circular cashel (diam. 23m) is defined from ENE-NW by a well-preserved wall (ext. H 1.2m; Wth 1.8m) around which an outer skin (H 0.8m) was added. The latter is best preserved at S where it survives from two to three courses high. From NW-NE the wall is reduced to a low bank of rubble (H 0.25-0.3m; Wth 3m). A dip in this at NE may mark the site of the entrance. The interior is raised c. 0.8m above the outer ground level and slopes gently to the S. There is another cashel (CL008-004002-) c. 86m to the NW, and another (CL008-004004-) c. 92m to the ESE. On a natural N-S running scarp in a partly cleared area of rough pasture and limestone outcrop, within a relict field system (CL009-004001-) and a larger multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). Hachured on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. This subcircular cashel (25.5m E-W; 24m N-S) is defined by the fragmentary remains of a double-faced stone wall. From N-SE all that survives is a scarp (H 0.4m) with intermittent traces of the outer wall-face, one to two courses in height. At S the wall is overgrown but the outer wall-face (H 0.8m) is visible. From SSW-NNW the inner wall-face (H 0.25m) is visible and also survives from one to two courses in height. A low overgrown stony bank (Wth 2m) runs along the perimeter of the site. The raised interior slopes gently to the S. A modern NW-SE running farm track crosses it from N-ESE, levelling the enclosing element. There is another cashel (CL008-004003-) c. 92m to the WNW and a possible structure (CL008-150----) c. 22m to the NE. The following image has been uploaded: CL008-004004-_01.jpg View from SE. Situated in a clear patch of coarse grassland in an area of limestone pavement and hazel scrub. Listed as ‘Cashel, possible’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1998 this was found to be a square area (20m x 20m) with a D-shaped area at E, all defined by drystone walls (Wth 0.8-1m). A circular enclosure is depicted very close to this on the OS 1st ed 6-inch map. It is unclear if CL008-005---- was in question or whether the depiction was misplaced and refers to CL008-004002- to the SE. In rough pastureland and limestone pavement, within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). This subcircular cashel (int. dims. 30.5m E-W; 29m N-S) is defined by a low double-faced stone wall (Wth 2.8m; H 0.35m) and associated tumble (combined Wth 3.3m), with the wall faces visible around the perimeter. There is an entrance (Wth 2.6m) at the SSW. A NW-SE curving wall (Wth 0.8m) extends across the SW interior forming a roughly oval area (18m NW-SE; 8m NE-SW), itself bisected by a very low NE-SW wall. A smaller triangular area (6m N-S; 6m E-W), lies immediately E of that, also against the perimeter of the cashel. Field walls extending NW-SE radiate from the cashel exterior at the W, S and E. There is an enclosure (CL008-005----) c. 75m to the E. On a gentle SE-facing slope in rough pasture and limestone pavement, with land rising slightly to the E but otherwise offering wide views within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL008-109001-). This subcircular cashel (52m NE-SW; 45m NW-SE) is defined from W to NW by an outer wall-face (H 1m) (the wall core and inner face are not clear) and from NW to NNW by a scarp (H 0.2m). From NNW to E it is defined by a double-faced wall with a rubble core (Wth 1.95m; H 0.5m), with at most one course of the wall-face surviving. At the E the cashel wall appears to be cut by a smaller enclosure or cashel (CL008-147----). From E to W the perimeter is truncated by later straight field-walls, possibly built over an earlier wall of which the footing (Wth 3.5m; H 0.25m) is visible. A small hollow is dug into the cashel wall at the N. In the centre of the sunken interior (av. D 0.3m) there is a small enclosure (CL008-130003-), and at NE there is a souterrain (CL008-130002-). The underlying drystone walls (D 0.7m) are visible in gaps between the lintels. Another enclosure (CL008-130003-) lies c. 11m to the SW within the larger cashel.
