On a N-facing slope in poorly drained pasture with higher ground to E and S. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. A rath (23.25m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 2-2.1m; int. H 0.2-0.25m; ext. H 0.8-1.3m) visible from SE to NW and reduced to a scarp at NE (ext. H 1.1m), encircled by a flat-based fosse (Wth 1-1.3m; ext. H 0.2m). A gap at the S (Wth 1.4m) is modern while a causeway at NNE (Wth 1.4m) may be original. The bank has been partially robbed out at the W. The interior slopes gently to the N and is featureless and clear of excess vegetation. A field drain runs along the N perimeter of the site. On a N-facing slope in undulating marshy pasture abutted to the S by a boreen c. 50m N of the Ballydeely River. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A subcircular rath (30.5m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by a round-topped earthen bank (Wth at base 1.85m; int. H 0.35-1m; ext. H 0.25-1m). The bank is overgrown from SSE to WNW along which it is surmounted by the boreen wall. The presence of an external fosse is suggested by a dense band of vegetation visible around the E half of the monument. Three gaps cut through the bank. A recent gap at the WNW, and older gaps at N (Wth 2.3m) and ESE (Wth 5.5m). The interior slopes gently down to the N and is covered in reeds. No internal features are visible. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
