A moderately well-preserved circular bivallate rath (est. diam. 54m; int. dims. 17m E-W; 15m N-S) defined by an inner bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.5-0.8m; ext. H 1.6-2.2m), a rush-filled fosse (Wth 1.8-2.6m) and an outer bank that survives as a scarp from NNE-SW (int. H 0.4-0.5m). An enclosure (CL005-280----) overlooks the site from on top of an outcropping bluff, c. 100m to the S. An extensive field system (c. 3.5km NW-SE) visible on OS Aerial Premium (2012-2018) stretching from Gragan West at N to Croagh South at S. The N half, just 500m W of Corkscrew Hill, is narrow (c. 360m E-W) and occupies a shelf on the E slopes of Faunarooska. The SE extent on lower ground widens to c. 1km. Many cairns, fulachtaí fia, cashels, enclosures and hut sites lie within. A roughly circular cashel (30m E-W; 27.5m N-S) defined by a stone wall (Wth 2.3m; H 0.5-1m) with some inner and outer wall-facing. A gap at E (Wth 0.6m) is lined by an orthostat (H 1m) on its N side and another gap at SW (Wth 1.1m) is lined by one on its S side (H 0.3m). Later walls run over many of the original facing stones. A rectangular house site (CL005-115017-) is located in its W sector. Situated on a plateau of karst limestone in a slight basin. A rectangular enclosure (int. dims. 23.2m NW-SE; 28.2m NE-SW) defined at SW, NW and NE by a drystone wall (Wth 0.4-0.8m; H up to 1.4m) and at SE by a double-faced wall (Wth 1.2m; H 0.6-0.9m). Indicated on Tim Robinson’s map of the Burren (1977). There is some spill associated with the drystone wall but it is unclear whether it is built on an older wall. A grass-covered rectangular rock outcrop (6.2m NW-SE; H 0.4-0.8m) occupies the centre of the enclosure. There is a small subrectangular annexe (10m NE-SW; 5.5-10.5m NW-SE) outside the S corner.
