In a prominent location on top of a natural mound set into a steep N-facing slope with extensive clear views from W through N to E. The field is very uneven with several high natural mounds and clumps of rushes. One slightly higher mound lies to the WSW. The area immediately to the S is forested. A subcircular area (ext. dims. 10m N-S; 9.2m E-W; int. dims. 6.1m N-S; 5.7m E-W) cut into the hillslope at S with a steep slope externally to the N, defined by a grass-covered stony bank, highest from SW-N-ESE (max. int. H 0.12m; max. ext H 0.54m; Wth 0.7m). The bank is very low from ESE-S-SW (ext. H 0.06m; int. H 0.2m; Wth 1.9m). Some stone facing is evident (L 4m) at NE where the bank is built up to contend with the slope. The interior is fairly level but rough with some loose rocks and a thorn tree growing in the NW quadrant. In the SE quadrant there is a setting of four stones aligned ESE-WNW enclosing a slightly sunken rectangular area (c. 1.4m x 0.78m; D 0.15m). This may have been a stone-kerbed hearth. The largest stone (L 1.04m) is at SW and has a flat edge set towards the interior of the feature. Some local accounts equate this monument with the burial place of Crimthann mac Fidach, a reputed High King of Ireland in the 4th century AD. However, a cairn (CL052- 064001-) immediately adjacent to a barrow (CL052-064003-) and standing stone (CL052-064002-) some 2.2km SE, also in Glennagross townland is more likely to be the location in question.
