Listed as ‘Earthwork’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A small subcircular hachured area is indicated on the 1923 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Situated in an area of undulating fertile pasture which slopes gently towards the sea. There are good views from the monument and it is itself visible from some distance away. A narrow headland (Wth 10m; L 25m) is cut off on the landward side by a curving earthen bank and fosse. The bank (Wth 3.6m; H 0.8m above the interior) is round-topped. The fosse is clearest at E (Wth 2.2m; D 0.25m). A cattle gap crosses the defences at the W cliff edge.
