Slightly hump-backed road bridge (long axis E-W) over Awbeg River and mill race for corn mill (15202), at E side of Castletownroche. Three arches of medieval bridge (Wth 3.5m) survive at W end of upstream side. Central pointed segmental arch (span 3m) with rough long voussoirs, arch on E side replaced with modern flat arch in 1990, flat segmental arch (span c. 3m) on W side with rough voussoirs. Piers vary in thickness from 2m->3m. Bridge widened on downstream (S) side by c. 4m with segmental arches, dressed voussoirs. When bridge widened, the east end of bridge was replaced with two segmental arches (span 6m and 2m) inserted over millrace of corn mill in early-19th century, larger arch over mill race fed by weir built diagonally across river on upstream side. Coursed ashlar parapet throughout with overhanging limestone coping, tied together with iron bars. Pointed segmental arch similar to those at Buttevant bridge (14811) which O'Keeffe and Simington (1991, 144) dated to 13th century. Bridge depicted on Down Survey (1655-6) barony map. On E bank of Awebeg River, on E side of Castletownroche; c. 500m NE of woollen mill (15233). Five-storey rectangular mill (26m E-W; 7.4m N-S), incorporating an earlier mill. Earlier section (10.93m E-W; 7.4m N-S) had wheel-pit alongside W wall, was 4-bays wide (S) and probably 5-storeys high. Mill extended to W by 3 bays (L c. 10m), enclosing wheel- pit, and to E by 1 bay (L 2.73m), probably at same time- date stone under 3rd-floor window in E gable reads "R W 1828". In order to create symmetrical elevation two bays of earlier section were blocked up. Extended structure is gable ended, with chimney atop each gable. Both sections of random-rubble limestone construction. Wheel-pit has semi-circular arched opening at either end to accommodate mill race. It contained a large '12ft x 20ft' poncelot water wheel; the curved sluice gate remains (FFIAS, 8). Carved on stone at side of wheel pit is "J. & R. Webb"; scratched on cement repair is "Racks 1912". In 1984 all wooden floors remained, with wooden uprights supporting the joists. Segment of cast-iron pit wheel lay in wheel pit, and in situ were various pieces of milling machinery including cockle drum and screen, cleaning machines, bolter, large hoppers, bucket elevators, and sack hoist; this machinery had been powered by a number of electric motors (Rynne, 1997, 5). By 1998 mill undergoing extensive renovation: wooden floors being replaced by concrete floors at different levels, and all milling machinery and pit wheel segment removed to storage. Lower section of E wall of earlier section recently demolished, and narrow brick wall built atop foundations of W wall. Three-storey, gable-ended grain-drying kiln, short distance outside E end of N wall, indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map as freestanding, later connected to mill by a passage with iron fire-proof doors. Kiln contained vertical early-20th century oil-fired, electrically driven fan grain-drying kiln. One storey, broad gable ended structure attached to N wall of kiln, wide brick arch in N elevation, chimney atop gable. Kiln and projection demolished in 1997. Two storey, stone built lean-to at W end of N elevation of mill straddling overflow channel. Mill yard to S with weigh bridge, enclosed to E and S by L-shaped, 2-storey store, accommodating office on 1st floor with fine Victorian wooden detail (Rynne ibid., 6). Entrance gate with stone-built pillars, between store/offices and mill, gives access from road. Modern rectangular structure (long axis N-S), built atop stone foundations of earlier building, on W side of yard. Millrace (Wth. 7.62m; recently recut), taken by weir from river c. 150m to N, passes under bridge (14838) and flows alongside E bank of river. A mill is shown here on Down Survey (1655-6) barony map , with a second mill opposite on W bank of river. According to Grove White (1905-25, vol. 2, 142) in the early 19th century there was a mill here 'grinding for the public'; this was taken over by Robert Webb who enlarged the mill (ibid.), probably in 1828 (see above). It burnt down c. 1837 but was again rebuilt; in 1887 the 'old-fashioned millstones' were replaced by 'a modern roller plant' (ibid.). This record was listed in the RMP (1998) as 'Potential site - cartographic'. The source for this record is Smith's, The ancient and present state of the county of Cork (1892, vol. 1), p. 388, which states that opposite the Castle 'is a field, which they call the Camp-field; from whence, a battery was erected by a party of the parliament forces, anno 1649, against the castle, which was then defended by the lady of lord Roche, for several days, in a gallant manner …' The name 'Camp Field' appears on the 1st ed. of the OS 6-inch map (not in antiquarian font) was repeated on the 1905 ed. As a 'battery' is specifically mentioned by Smith, this record has been reclassified as 'Battery (possible)'. House demolished in 1959, but photograph taken in 1914 (Grove White 1905-25, vol. 3., opp. 146; see also front cover of Hoare 1975) shows entrance front (W) of 5 bays with shallow central 1-bay breakfront; central round-headed door ope with sidelights incorporated into frame, semi-circular fanlight overhear; hipped roof. According to Grove White (ibid., 149) the date "1819" was cut in stone lintel of fanlight; he also states that 'back portion' of house 'very old, with very thick walls' (ibid.). Farm buildings survive to rear (E) enclosing yard on W, N, and S sides; E side enclosed by W wall of walled garden. Outbuildings on W side were possibly attached to house. Castellated wall of outbuildings pierced by ornate ogee-headed archway, with plaster decorations and engaged stone columns on external W elevation; pointed door opes on either side. At S end, in SW corner of farmyard, is dovecote (14959). North range of farm buildings has fine limestone arches; S range has central pedimented breakfront. Overgrown roofless ruin, in SW corner of farmyard at Glenanore House (14848) and just S of ornate castellated archway. Circular 2-storey structure (H c. 8m; int. diam. 2.8m), rendered over random-rubble limestone construction, tapering gently with height, topped with brick cornice. Brick-arched door ope to S; three pointed blind windows on 1st floor of S elevation. Internal ground floor (no longer survives) was supported by corbels and internal ledge over sub-floor (D 1m); unusual round-headed shadow marks in plaster on internal walls; fireplace in E wall. Saddle quern, partially embedded in inner face of bank to N; consists of sandstone boulder (0.5m by 0.4m) with hollow in upper surface (0.3m by 0.35m). - Bridge, 1600–1840, Regional interest, registry number 20805013, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CO&regno=20805013. Five-arch humpbacked road bridge over River Awbeg, rebuilt 1837, incorporating fabric of earlier bridge, built in seventeenth century and widened in eighteenth century. Arches comprise central segmental arch over millrace, three lower and narrower round arches to west and single round arch to east. Coursed limestone rubble walls with tooled copings having some wrought-iron tie staples, and terminating in square-plan piers. Limestone rubble voussoirs to arches, and V-cutwaters to north elevation. Rendered diagonal weir to north divides millrace from river. Bronze oval plaque to west pier and bronze oval plaque and rectangular limestone plaque to east parapet.
- Glenanore, farmyard complex, 1730–1750, Regional interest, registry number 20805014, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CO&regno=20805014. Detached courtyard of outbuildings, built c. 1740, located to east of Glenanore, latter now demolished. Comprises ornate entranceway to south-west corner having coursed limestone rubble wall with ogee-headed carriage arch opening flanked by pointed arch pedestrian doorway and similar blind opening. Centre of gateway framed by rubble stone engaged columns with plinths having bands, supporting decorative render entablature and corbel table with crenellations above, and carved detail between corbel table and arch proper. Arch itself has rubble stone voussoirs. Flanking copings curved downwards from centre and have similar corbel table but lack crenellations. Opening flanked by cut-stone pilasters to impost level, with plinths and imposts, and arch has rubble stone voussoirs. Flanking openings have rubble stone voussoirs, engaged columns to impost level, and imposts, one opening having timber battened door. Round-plan three-stage dovecote to south, with roughcast rendered walls with string course and cut-stone parapet to top stage, pointed arch blind openings to second stage and square-headed blind openings and doorway to lowest stage. Three-bay south range connected to east side of dovecote and comprises central gable-fronted and slightly advanced two-storey bay flanked by single-storey bays, with pitched corrugated-metal roofs and partly rendered rubble limestone walls and having limestone eaves course. Centre bay has round-headed opening to first floor of centre bay with timber frame having chicken wire screen, and segmental carriage arch to ground floor with tooled limestone surround, voussoirs and imposts. Square-headed door openings to other bays with sheet metal doors. Semi-circular window to first floor rear with brick voussoirs inserted into blocking of larger round-arched opening, and inserted square-headed window opening to ground floor rear with timber fittings. Two-bays of single-storey west range remain, having coursed limestone rubble walls and blocked door with cambered brick arch below rubble limestone relieving arch and having limestone jambs. Four-bay two-storey north range, having pitched corrugated-iron roof and coursed limestone rubble walls with some render. First floor has square-headed window openings with enlarged dropped tooled limestone keystones and timber battened doors. Ground floor has elliptical arched openings comprising two central carriage openings flanked by two pedestrian doorways and all having tooled block-and-start limestone surrounds with replacement sheet metal doors. Three-bay two-storey addition to west, having pitched corrugated-iron roof and coursed limestone rubble walls with square-headed loop openings and camber-headed door openings with red brick voussoirs to west door. Walled gardens to east and north with coursed limestone rubble walls having some recent rendered buttresses. Square-plan single-bay single-storey building to south-west corner with hipped slate roof and coursed limestone rubble walls with pointed arch door opening approached by three limestone steps. Square-plan single-bay single-storey outbuilding to north-west corner of garden having hipped slate roof, now overgrown, with coursed limestone rubble walls and having segmental-headed double-door opening with tooled stone surround.
- Foot bridge, 1880–1900, Regional interest, registry number 20805022, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CO&regno=20805022. Freestanding cast-iron footbridge, erected c. 1890, over millrace at Castletownroche Mills. Cast-iron surface approached by flights of five cast-iron steps at each end. Cast-iron parapets with lattice sides and curvilinear support brackets, with round-plan piers with ball finials.
- Bridge Mill, mill (water), 1835–1840, Regional interest, registry number 20805023, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=CO&regno=20805023. Detached six-bay five-storey with attic former flour mill, built 1838, with integral round-arched way through ground floor to accommodate former waterwheel. Square-headed outlet for millrace to west gable. Renovated 2000 and possibly incorporates fabric of earlier structure(s), now in use as offices. Two-storey with attic single-bay lean-to projection to west end of north elevation. Pitched slate roof with rendered eaves course, chimneystacks to gables and louvred lantern to centre of ridge with weather vane. Coursed limestone rubble walls, rendered to south, front, elevation and having round iron tie-plates. Square-headed window openings with recent render sills, raised surrounds, and replacement uPVC windows. Square-headed door openings with replacement timber doors. Archways have tooled limestone voussoirs and inserted uPVC windows. Coursed limestone rubble boundary walls with recent wrought-iron vehicular gates, and square-headed pedestrian entrance with tooled limestone jambs and lintel and having decorative wrought-iron gate. Wrought-iron gates to north-east set to rubble limestone piers and walls. Part of complex of mill buildings.

Detached L-plan two-storey flour mill, built 1838, possibly incorporating fabric of earlier structure(s), now in use as warehouse and workshops. Three-bay gable-fronted north-south block to north and three-bay east-west block at rights angles to south. Pitched slate roofs, somewhat saltbox in profile to south block. Coursed limestone rubble walls to north block and mostly roughcast render to south, with curved south-east corner to latter. Round vent to upper north gable of north block, having red brick surround. Square-headed window openings throughout. North block has red brick surrounds to barred timber sash one-over-one-pane windows in north and west elevations, one tripartite, and timber casement and one timber one-over-one pane timber sash window to east elevation. South block has timber casement or frameless windows, mainly without sills. West gable or north block has segmental-arched carriage entrance and square-headed pedestrian doorway, both with red brick surrounds and timber battened doors. Segmental-arched entrance to west elevation of south block. Located in larger complex of mill structures.
