In pasture, on gentle E-facing slope on W side of Glandore Harbour. Excavated by O'Kelly (1954, 69-86). He described an oval area (24.4m N-S; 21.3m E-W) enclosed by stone bank (max. H 1.2m; max. Wth 2.7m). W half of bank contains low upright slabs set radially at intervals of 0.6m-0.9m. Entrance to E. Excavation revealed oval house site (10m N-S; 6.7m E-W) with entrance also to E. O'Kelly suggests an Early Bronze Age date for the enclosure and house site. Foundations of square house (CO142-091002-) super imposed on the oval house were also discovered. Discovered during excavation of enclosure (CO142-091001-) at Carrigillihy. O'Kelly (1951, 69-86) describes wall foundations (max. H 2 feet) of a drystone-built house (ext. L 28 feet; Wth ext. 28 feet; L int. 20 feet; Wth int. 17 feet); long axis WNW-ESE: there are two opes, opposite each other on the shorter wall. In pasture, on gentle E-facing slope, on W side of Glandore estuary. Rectangular enclosure (14.5m NE-SW; 6.3m NW-SE) defined by stone wall (H 0.8m; Wth c. 0.95m); area inside raised up to near top of walls - uneven surface with loose stones. Smith (1750 vol. 1, 263) stated 'at Carigiliky...extensive ruins were discovered...of the Abbey de Sancto Mauro'. This assertion that here is a Cistercian abbey, is supported by local tradition (O'Sullivan 1944, 1-9). However, the correct location of this abbey would appear to be at Aghmanister (CO136-022---), being moved later to Abbey Mahon (CO136-030003-) (Gwynn and Hadcock 1988, 125; Stalley 1987, 241). Rectangular area projecting E into Glandore harbour. Excavation by O'Kelly (1952, 29-35) found no trace of occupation in 'archaeologically sterile' interior. Sections through defences at neck of promontory revealed dry-stone faced bank (H c. 4ft) with core of stone chips quarried from steep-sided fosse (D c. 6ft); original entrance not found, O'Kelly suggests it may have been at either end and subsequently eroded away. Published in Archaeological Inventory, Volume 1 (No. 902) as 'Two roughly parallel standing stones, 1.5m apart. The N stone (H 1.25m; 0.85m x 0.3m) leaning to N; two other stones at base suggestive of facings for bank though none survives. Stone to S (H 1.05m; 0.2m x 0.9m). (pers.comm. Paul Walsh).' Monument revisited 24 March 2005: 'In rough pasture, near the N edge of a terrace with occasional rock outcrops, on a N-facing slope with a view E over Glandore Harbour and W-N over undulating farm land. Two roughly parallel standing stones are 1.5m apart. The upright stone at S (H 1.05m; 0.9m x 0.2m) is aligned ENE-WSW. The N stone (H 1.25m; 0.85m x 0.3m), also aligned WSW-ENE, is leaning to N against a lower stone (H 0.6m; 0.8m x 0.2m) aligned NW-SE at its W corner; at its E corner a stone (H 0.45m; 1.2m x 0.2m) is aligned N-S. Four cupmarks (diam. 0.04-0.05m; D 0.02-0.03m) are visible on the upper surface of an irregularly shaped prostrate slab (1.55m E-W; 0.8m N-S; T 0.3m). A rectangular area (12m E-W; 8m N-S) enclosed by the intermittent remains of an earthen bank (Wth 1m; H 0.2m) is according to local information a children's burial ground, known as Cill na Leanbh. Traces of low mounds indicate the graves. This is the children's burial ground recorded by O'Donoghue (1986, 43). On the rocky seashore at the foot of an E-facing slope overlooking the mouth of Glandore Harbour. Spring water emerges from a crevice in the rock and flows eastwards forming an irregular shaped holy well (c. 0.8m x 0.3m). The well is known locally as 'Tobar na Cille - well of the church' (O'Donoghue 1986, 43). It is said to be associated with the church (CO142-092003-) and burial ground (CO142-092002-) c. 100m to the SW. Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1820, attached to four-bay two-storey block to rear. Later porch addition to front (south-east) and recent lean-to extension to side (south-west). Now vacant. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, uPVC rainwater goods and timber eaves course. Pitched slate roof to rear block. Rendered walls. Square-headed openings with two-over-two and one-over-one timber sliding sash windows having rendered and stone sills. Square-headed door opening with timber glazed door. Later porch comprising half-hipped slate roof, rendered walls, plinth, square-headed bipartite openings with two-over-two timber sliding sash windows, stone sill and square-headed door opening with uPVC door and concrete step. Outbuildings to rear and side.

Square-headed door opening with timber glazed door. Rubble limestone wall with gate piers.
