In rough hill grazing, on blanket bog, on an undulating E-facing slope. A roughly circular cairn (3.5m E-W; 3.3m N-S; H 0.4m) which is partly hidden in blanket bog. The cairn contains mainly large stones (max. H 0.4m), many of which are grassed over. There is another cairn (CO115-112003-) c. 60m to the SE. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In rough hill grazing, on a mantle of blanket bog, on an E-facing undulating slope. A roughly oval-shaped cairn (5m E-W; 3.5m N-S; max. H 0.75m) comprising a mound of large stones. The base stones in the cairn are partly hidden in the blanket bog. There is another cairn (CO115-112002-) c. 60m to the NW. In rough hill grazing, on blanket bog, on a break in an E-facing slope. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 3.7m) defined by the base courses of a drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.3m), which are embedded in the bog. Some of the stones in the wall, which are mainly grassed over, protrude above ground level. A dense growth of rushes obscures much of the hut site. A wall of a network of field boundaries (CO115-137005-) lies c. 7m to the W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009 - CO115-137005: Field boundary, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO115-137005-. In rough hill grazing, on a mantle of blanket bog of varying depth, on an E-facing undulating slope. A stretch of a relict stone field boundary (T 0.6m; H 0.5m) extends in an ENE direction for c. 60m where it abuts another relict wall. The latter wall meanders in a NNW-SSE direction for a distance of c. 100m, terminating c. 7m to the W of a hut site (CO115-137004-). Only the base courses of the relict wall, which protrude from the blanket bog (D 0.2-0.5m), survive. Intermittent gaps occur along both stretches of relict field boundary. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009 - CO115-137009: Fulacht fia, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO115-137009-. In rough hill pasture, on blanket bog on an E-facing slope. A horseshoe-shaped mound (8.5m N-S; 4.8m E-W; H 0.7m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil. The opening (Wth 1.15m) faces E. The mound is surrounded by blanket bog, partially covered by rushes. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009 - CO115-137010: Field boundary, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO115-137010-. In wet rough hill grazing on blanket bog, on a gentle E-facing slope. A relict stone field boundary (T 0.65m; H 0.2m) extends in a general E-W direction for a distance of c. 30m. Only the tops of the stones appear above the surface of the blanket bog (min. D 1m). Further stones appear intermittently to the E and SE and indicate that a more extensive network of field boundaries may be lying beneath the deep bog in the area. A fulacht fia (CO115-111001-) and a hut site (CO115-111002-) lie c. 30m to the W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
