The remains of a rectangular hut site (6m E-W; 3.2m N-S) defined by the lower courses of a stone wall (T 0.65m; H 1m). The entrance (Wth 0.65m) is at the centre of the N wall. Rubble is scattered in the level interior and along the external perimeter. The entire hut site, which is sheltered by a steeply rising ridge at the SE, is obscured by a dense cover of ferns and heather. In rough hill pasture, on a NE-SW terrace on the NW-facing slopes of Gouladane overlooking Bantry Bay. The remains of a circular hut site (3.8m E-W; 3.5m N-S) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.8m; H 0.4m). A break along the NE arc may indicate the entrance location. Rubble is scattered in the interior and ferns obscure the entire hut site. Another hut site (CO130-046002-) abuts this hut site externally at the E. In rough hill pasture, on a NE-SW terrace on the NW-facing slopes of Gouladane overlooking Bantry Bay. The remains of a circular hut site (4.9m N-S; 4.75 E-W) defined by a jumbled stone wall (T 0.55m; H 0.3m) which protrudes from a low bank, especially along the S arc. The interior is raised (H 0.2m) above ground level. The hut site may have been used in more recent times as a turf stand for stacking dry turf. There are many such turf stands on this hillside. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). On a NE-SW rough hill pasture terrace on the NW-facing slopes of Gouladane overlooking Bantry Bay. A circular area (int. diam. 8m) is defined by large stones (up to 0.8m x 0.4m and H 0.4m) set intermittently on the perimeter S-E. Two adjoining rectangular box-like structures (1.2m N-S; 1.05m E-W; H 0.5m and 1.1m N-S; 0.85m E-W; H 0.4m) defined by stone slabs abut the perimeter internally at S. Their function is unclear. The presence of similar stones in a more jumbled state nearby suggests the possibility of further internal structures. Ferns partially obscure the enclosure. The wall comprises stone slabs that are set at right angles to the line of the wall and are leaning against each other. Rubble is scattered in the fern-covered level interior.
