In pasture on S-facing slope. Stone (L 2m; 1m x 0.6m) removed from original position and now lying in field fence nearby. It stood 'about five feet six inches high' in 1897 (Franklin 1897, 383). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009 - CO054-056001: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO054-056001-. In pasture, on S-facing slope. Two parallel flat-topped stones (axis NW-SE) stand 1.8m apart (NE stone: H 1.4m; 0.7m x 0.3m; SW stone: H 1.3m; 0.9m x 0.4m). Displaced slab (L 2.4m; 2.1m x 0.3m) leans against upright stones on SW side. Running SW for c. 8m towards field fence low mound or bank (Wth c.4m; H c. 0.4m) with line of low upright stones along NW and SE edges. This may be feature referred to by Franklin (1897, 383) as 'avenue of stones'; he considered the site to be remains of 'Cromlech' but more probably remains of enclosure entrance. The attachment of church name (CO054-056002-) to site on OS 6-inch map may be cartographic error and more likely refers to enclosure c. 3000m to NNE (CO054-057001-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009 - CO054-057001: Ecclesiastical enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO054-057001-. On slight terrace on NE-facing slope, in pasture. Sub-oval area (79m N-S; 49m E-W) enclosed by overgrown earthen bank (H c. 1.5m) similar to surrounding field fences; bank levelled SW->NW, but slight undulation marks line. Interior featureless except for graveyard (CO054-057002-) in SW quadrant. Probably site of 'St. Lasser's Church' marked on 1936 OS 6-inch map beside megalithic structure (CO054-056001-) c. 300m to SSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In SW quadrant of large sub-oval enclosure (CO054-057001-), rectangular area (17m N-S; 14m E-W) enclosed by sod-covered foundations of stone wall. Entrance to N (Wth 0.7m) formed by stone slabs (1 to W; 2 to E); according to Franklin (1897, 383) 'these were once removed by a former tenant' but subsequently replaced. Inside line of wall to E is heap of rubble (H c. 1m). Interior level; in pasture; no trace of gravemarkers. According to Franklin (ibid.) 'this is an ancient graveyard'. May be part of early ecclesiastical site associated with St. Lasser. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. In pasture on gentle N-facing slope forming corner of field. Circular area (33m N-S; 33m E-W) defined by field fence (int. H 1.4m; ext. H 2.6m) curving SW->E, probably incorporating remains of bank; in poor condition, topped by stone fence in parts. Line of bank visible as low undulations E->SW. Interior level.
