In pasture, on break in slope and above sharp fall of ground down to SW. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1904 and 1936 OSmaps, bounded on S side by Deer Park wall, which remains standing. Levelled; no visible surface trace. Possibly one of four ringforts recorded in townland by Broker (1937, 49). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009 - CO039-069: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO039-069----. In pasture, on grounds of Tullig House. Depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map as one of three circular plantations of trees (9160; 8743); indicated and hachured on 1904 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps respectively as circular enclosure. Circular area (20m N-S) enclosed by low, insubstantial earthen bank (H 1m). Bank and interior planted with trees. Position in relation to Tullig House and insubstantial nature of bank may suggest that this is a tree ring. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009 - CO039-070: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO039-070----. Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map as one of three circular plantations of trees (9159; 8743) in 'Deer Park' of Tullig House; on 1936 OS 6-inch map as hachured circularenclosure (diam. c. 30m). In pasture, on steep SW-facing slope. Circular area (diam. 28m) enclosed by low scarp (max. H 1.2m) SSE->NNE, low bank to NE; low outer eroded bank (max. H 0.8m) and shallow intervening fosse (Wth3.5m) SSE->ENE. Interior slopes very steeply downhill from NE to SW. Entire site planted with coniferous trees. Possibly fort recorded by Broker (1937,49) on Michael Riordan's land as 'Beech fort, 1/4 acre, double fence, partly levelled'. Surviving banks are insubstantial; no attempt has been made to level up interior. These factors together with position of site in relation to Tullig House may suggest that this is a tree ring. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In pasture, on gentle W-facing slope, commanding extensive view all round. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) on 1842, 1904 and 1936 OS 6-inch map. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
