Located c. 2m above mine (CO139-026015-) entrance, S end of Barnacleeve Gap. Inclined working driven 250° into N-facing rock scarp. Partial excavation removed 0.3m of stony sediment and vegetation from entrance, revealing carbonaceous primary sediment; one stone maul found. Accessible length c. 5m; entrance (Wth 2.6m; H 1m); interior (Wth 1.5m; H 0.8m). No extant spoil sediments on floor of gorge 3-4m below mine. No extant spoil dumps; may have been removed when bottom of gorge functioned as main route across mountain, before building of upper road in 1846. Test-pit excavation uncovered late 17th century pottery vessel in secondary context; re-use of mine as temporary shelter. Accessible length c. 0.5m; entrance (Wth c. 5m; H c. 1m); narrowing considerably towards back wall. Outside mine, immediately S and W, low dumps of spoil spread over 250m² to unknown depth. In rough gorse and heather-covered hill pasture, on a N-facing slope to the E of Barnacleve. This standing stone (1.65m x 0.45m; H 1.5m) is roughly rectangular in plan and is orientated ENE-WSW. The WSW side slopes gradually inward as it rises to a flat top that slopes gently to the WSW. Stones protrude from the bog immediately to the E of the stone.
