In occasional use; burials concentrated within and to S of earlier church; headstones noted of 19th- and 20th-century date though Buckley (1910-12) lists one of 1728; much-ruined table tomb within earlier church; many low uninscribed grave markers. South-of-centre in graveyard (14607), c. 5.5m S of C of I church (14720). Fragmentary remains of rectangular church (c. 18.9m E-W; int. c. 6.7m N-S); described by Power (1932, 83) as 42ft. x 27ft. East wall entirely removed, position marked by limestone quoins of NE corner (H 1.1m) and slight slope down to E; line of W wall also marked only by similar drop. South wall reduced to line of rubble. Low remains (max. H 1.1m) of E end of N wall (L 7.8m), visible elsewhere as slight drop. In 1984 (CAS), N and S walls survived to c. 1m H, heavily overgrown; opposing doorways, towards W end of N and S walls, had similar limestone surround with pointed arch, chamfered externally; S doorway had straight-set embrasure under segmental arch. Church subjected to removal of overgrowth in early 1990s, when S doorway and surrounding walling rebuilt using material from N doorway, and buttressed externally. North door now survives only in its basal courses. Cut-limestone fragment close to church, re-used as gravemarker, has chamfered moulding, probably from window jamb. North and S walls described by Power (ibid.) as standing to 'about 8 feet' with 'a widely splaying window of apparently native Irish character' in S wall. Remains of parish church of Marshalstown, probably late medieval in date. Reported 'in repair' in 1615, abandoned by 1694 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 330, 68). Tall two storey tower on W gable with corner buttresses, flat headed door ope in S wall with hood moulding. Built in 1830 to accommodate 150 people (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 347). Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1890, facing west, being two-pile to northern two bays, south bay projecting slightly to front and rear elevations to give two-bay south elevation. Two-bay single-storey extension to north. Slate roof, pithced to north end and hipped to south, with rendered chimneystacks and clay ridge tiles. Pitched slate roof to extension with decorative terracotta ridge tiles, carved timber bargeboards, and having red brick chimneystacks in facer bond. Some cast-iron rainwater goods. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls with rendered plinth course having decorative cast-iron vents. Square-headed window openings having tooled limestone sills, with replacement two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Round-headed door opening with timber panelled door and single-pane overlight, all set into round-headed recess. Square-headed door opening to extension having timber battened door with rectangular overlight. Outbuilding to north, single-storey and part lofted, having pitched artificial slate roof, coursed tooled limestone rubble walls, and square-headed openings with timber fittings, door openings having tooled voussoirs and timber battened double and single-leaf doors. Freestanding Church of Ireland church, built c. 1810, comprising three-bay nave, square-plan two-stage tower to west, and single-bay vestry to north-west. Now in ruins. Roofless, having some cast-iron rainwater goods. Coursed limestone rubble walls with tooled limestone plinth course having cast-iron vents, and cut limestone quoins and chamfered cut limestone block-and-start surrounds to openings. Tower has string course between stages, diagonal buttresses to corners, and moulded limestone cornice. Pointed arch window openings to nave, middle window being taller than others, all with hood-mouldings. Tudor-arch window openings to vestry. Double lancet window openings to upper stage of tower, with narrower double lancet openings above with tooled hood-mouldings and timber louvers. Pointed arch window openings to bottom stage having tooled hood-mouldings. Square-headed door opening to south elevation of tower having label-moulding and approached by limestone step. Square-headed door opening to vestry. All openings recently blocked. Graveyard to site having some ornate grave markers and remains of east end of medieval church with coursed limestone rubble walls and pointed segmental arch door opening.
