Series of overgrown quarried depressions, roughly circular in shape but varying in size and depth (diam. 3m-14m; D c. 2m-3m); some still containing a partially-worked millstone. Other millstones were quarried from very shallow hollows or made from rock outcrop. Conglomerate millstones on site vary in size (diam. 0.91m-1.45m; T 0.20m-0.38m); some have central perforation (diam. c. 0.21m), bored from both sides; others have unfinished bore holes. Some millstones were removed from their quarried positions but abandoned further down mountain side. Runner quern stone and saddle quern noted in nearby farmhouse. On W side of road, pair of similar lime kilns, cut into slope and forming W end of small rectangular field. Indicated as single lime kiln on 1842 OS 6-inch map at W end of field, on S side. Both indicated on 1905 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps. Slightly overgrown random-rubble walls encase earthen core (c. 13m N-S; c. 14m E-W). Front elevation (H c. 5.3m) faces E with no clear break in construction between two recesses. Southern kiln has arched recess (H 1.6m; Wth 2.32m; D 1.7m) with well-shaped voussoirs, rear of recess collapsed; infilled with material from core and funnel. Slightly barrel-shaped funnel (diam. 1.9m), stone lined with upper c. 1.5m brick lined. Northern kiln similar with stone-arched recess (H 1.58m; Wth 2.25m; D 1.8m), rear collapsed, infilled with collapsed material from core and funnel. Slightly barrel-shaped funnel (diam. 2.04m), stone-lined with upper 1.4m brick-lined. Two ledges over recesses at H 2.3m and 3.8m. Rear of kilns overgrown. On S side of Quitrentmountain. One storey rectangular mill (long axis c. 20m E-W) of random-rubble sandstone construction. Overgrown wheel-pit (Wth 1.23m; D c. 2m; long axis N-S) alongside E wall; possibly housed a low breast shot/undershot waterwheel. Present N wall originally an internal wall in a larger structure which extended further N. Wide stone-arched opes in S wall. Probably reduced to present size when converted into farm buildings in 1950s (see below). On E side of wheel-pit is high wall with lintelled ope; this is the S end of W wall of a rectangular structure (long axis N-S) indicated 'in ruins' on 1903 OS 6-inch map; fragmentary remains of N end of this structure noted during site inspection have subsequently been removed. Millrace taken from mountain stream c. 300m to NW. Two-storey Quitrentmountain House immediately to E: mid-19th-century in appearance; recently renovated. Millstone (diam. 0.95m), used as door step at rear of house, is conglomerate bedstone and may have come from nearby millstone quarry (15256). According to local information, mills owned by O'Mahony family who built the house and operated site as a corn and woollen mill, but ceased operating in 1920s.
