In rough grazing broken by rock outcrop, near coast on S side of Cod's Head. Circular area (25.8m N-S) enclosed by a collapsed stone wall (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.5m; Wth 8m); truncated to E by a stone wall which abuts the NE corner of a ruined church (CO114-021002-). Gap to W where stone wall crosses the line of the enclosing wall running W from the NW corner of the church. Ancient entrance may be to NE where a radially set slab, on edge, can be seen; line of stones just outside this may be the remains of an approaching trackway. Noted by O'Brien (1970, 17, No. 80); O'Shea and Crowley (1972, 43) note "traces of a possible entrance to a souterrain" (CO114-021004-); according to O'Donoghue (1986,318) "here is site of ancient monastery". Only lower courses of walls stand; central door in S wall (Wth 1.15m). Interior filled with low, uninscribed gravemarkers and known locally as children's burial ground (CO114-021003-) (O'Shea & Crowley 1972, 43). A small N-facing opening (Wth 0.5m; H 0.55m) blocked with stones is evident in the enclosing wall. According to local information, this opening leads to a stone-built lintelled chamber. In rough pasture, in the SW corner of a field overlooking Ballydonegan Bay to the S. The remains of a square hut site (4.4m N-S; 4.2m E-W) defined by the lower course of a stone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.4m), which consists mainly of large stones along the N and the E walls. A recent stone field wall appears to overlay the enclosing elements along the S and W walls. Smaller stones from the N and E walls of the hut site may have been used to build the recent field walls, leaving the large stones that now define the N and W sides of the hut site. In rough grazing, on a S-facing rocky hillside, midway between the areas known as Eskavaud and Eskakininaun. Traces of quartz are visible in a NE-SW ridge of rock. The adit (max. H 2m; max. Wth 3m) extends along the base of the rock for c. 18m. Immediately in front of it is a grass-covered spoil mound (H 2m; Wth c. 5m at base) which slopes down to the SE. Broken stone mauls and mining debris resulting from fire-setting are exposed intermittently along the length of the mound. Material from the spoil mound has slipped back into the adit. The floor of the adit is dry, any water in it eventually seeps out through the spoil mound. The stone walls of a now roofless, rectangular animal shelter stand on the spoil mound.
