In rough pasture, on the upper S-facing slope of Baurearagh Mountain with fine views over the valley of the Glengarriff River and harbour to the SE. The remains consist of a gallery (L 3.4m; Wth 1m at centre, narrowing to 0.9m at E), aligned E-W, represented by three sidestones to the N, the backstone at E and a single slab marking the E component of the S side. A prostrate slab lying at the W end of the gallery may be the W fallen sidestone or, more likely, a displaced roofstone. The greater part of the E section of the gallery is covered by a roofstone (2.25m x 1.3m; T 0.25m). Two outer-wall stones stand to the N of the gallery. Remains of a grass-covered mound are visible at the E end of the monument. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). This monument was brought to the attention of ASI by the archaeologist Tony Miller on 25th June 2012. The following is his description of the monument: "A small, circular hut site, situated on a spur, overlooking a steep south facing valley to the south of Baurearagh Mountain. It is an area of rough grazing with many scattered rocks and boulders. It contains a tributary of the Kerry River which later flows into the Glengarriff nature reserve. The hut site has internal measurements of c. 1.7m east-west and c. 1.8m north-south and the walls, made of field stones, survive to a height of c. 0.6m. There is a small entrance just c. 0.5m in width to the east, made of two radially set upright slabs. This site commands exceptional views of the valley below." - CO090-037: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CCO090-037----. This monument was brought to the attention of ASI by the archaeologist Tony Miller on 25th June 2012. The following is his description of the monument: "A large D-shaped enclosure built against a small cliff face. It is a few hundred meters east of the hut site (CO090-036----) and situated in similar rough terrain. It measures c. 12m east-west and c. 10m north-south. There is an area of good grazing around it and there is a spring rising and flowing around its eastern perimeter. The wall is made of roughly laid field stone and to the southwest there is some evidence the interior was terraced and raised. To the west of this enclosure there are a number of long field boundaries running down the slope and in places would have guided animals towards it."
