Internal diam. c. 20m. A circular area enclosed by a collapsed stone wall, up to .5m in height on the W side. The E side has been partially quarried away and in places survives only as a line of stones. On the W side adjoining, the cashel wall is a circular collapsed stone foundation (DG017-022002-) c. 5m in diameter but it is not certain that this is an original feature of the site. The rest of the interior is level but is over-grown. The site is located on a prominent rise with agricultural land around its base. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' - DG017-030: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CDG017-030----. Excavation licence number 04E0938. The site of the proposed development, a bridge across the bay and a link road connecting to the Milford-Carrickart road, is located on a peninsula jutting into Mulroy Bay, close to Carrickart just off the Milford road. The closest known monument, a cashel (DG017-022----), is over 400m east of the proposed development. However, field-walking undertaken by Christopher Read of North West Archaeological Services identified a possible unrecorded 'fort' close to the proposed road-take. Probably consisting of modified natural features, the 'fort' is located just outside the road-take, 30m to the west. Due to the presence of the 'fort' and potentially associated low earthen banks to the south-east, it was recommended that the portion of the link road extending across the peninsula to the bridge should be investigated both geophysically and by test-trenches. A centre-line trench, 430m long, was excavated along the length of the road. Numerous spur trenches, 10-20m long, were also excavated to investigate particular anomalies identified through the geophysics. - House, 1850–1870, Regional interest, registry number 40901741, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG&regno=40901741. Detached three-bay single-storey vernacular house with attic floor level, built c. 1860, having single-storey extension to rear (west), single-storey lean-to extension to south and single-storey extension to the north with pitched corrugated-metal roof extension. Now unoccupied. Pitched natural slate roof with projecting eaves having exposed rafter ends, rendered brick chimneystacks and raised brick coping to gable ends, and with cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed window openings to front elevation with rough stone sills and six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows. Central square-headed doorway with battened timber half doors. Attached single-bay single-storey outbuilding to the south having mono-pitched corrugated-metal roof with raised rendered coping to east and west ends, roughcast rendered walls, and square-headed doorway with timber door. Single-bay single-storey outbuilding attached to the north gable end having pitched corrugated-metal roofs, roughcast rendered walls, and square-headed doorway. Set back from road in own grounds to the east of Carrickart. House set perpendicular to the road along a private laneway with industrial sheds and farm complex to rear. Stone rubble wall to north.

Detached four-bay two-storey house, built c. 1880 and extended to the west c. 1930, having single-storey flat-roof extension to rear (south). Pitched natural slate roof with raised rendered verges to the gable ends, and with two rendered chimneystacks (one to the east gable end and one offset to the east at the gable end of original house. Replacement rainwater goods. Pebbledashed walls finish over smooth rendered plinth, and with projecting smooth rendered block-and-start quoins to corners. Square-headed window openings with smooth rendered reveals, stone sills, and three-over-three pane timber sliding sash windows\margin windows. Square-headed doorway to the centre of original house having smooth rendered reveals and replacement glazed timber door. House set in a slight angle to the road-alignment. Complex of single-storey outbuildings to the rear (south) and to the east having pitched corrugated-metal and natural slate roofs, rubble stone walls, and square-headed openings. Single-storey barrel-vaulted corrugated-metal outbuilding to the east.
