- DG026-003: Megalithic tomb - unclassified, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CDG026-003----. The monument, on a slight rise amid pasture, lies just W of the road between Dunfanaghy and Creeslough and is c. 700m NW of Back Strand at the inner reaches of Sheep Haven Bay. There is an extensive outlook along a river valley to the SW as far as Muckish Mountain c. 6km away. The monument is greatly ruined, and the scant remains are difficult to interpret but seem to represent a chamber or gallery aligned NE-SW. It is described as if it lay E-W. The tallest stone, 1.6m high, is at the NE. Immediately S of the W end of this and at right angles to it is a set stone, 0.15m high. This may be the butt of a taller stone. A slab, 0.9m by 0.55m by 0.lm thick, leaning against the tall stone does not seem to be in situ. Two more set stones stand 1.5m SW of the group just described. Both lie E-W. The eastern one is 0.2m high, and the western one, overlapping the W end of the eastern and 0.2m to the S, is 0.15m high. Both may be remnants of taller stones. A slab, 3.1m by 1.5m by 0.4m thick, overlies the eastern one. This slab leans southward and rests on a stone that itself may have collapsed northward. The latter is c. 1m long by 0.2m thick and if upright would be c. 0.75m high. There are no discernible traces of a mound around the structure. Accounts of the monument in OS documents from the middle of the 19th century indicate that it was then in much the same condition as now. The remains here are clearly those of a megalithic tomb but are insufficient to permit classification. Internal diam. c. 45m NNW-SSE, c. 23m ENE-WSW. An oval area enclosed by a collapsed stone wall up to 1m in height and originally 1.95m wide. Externally to the E and Ware sharp drops. Internally on the W side is a 4m square structure of collapsed stone walls now 3m wide. There is a gap in this collapse at the SE corner. Just N of this structure a slab 1.7m long projects out of the ground. The site is located on a NE-SW hill overlooking the Back Strand, in rough pasture and in a commanding position. Internal diam. c. 20m N-S, c. 14m E-W. The enclosed area was approximately oval in plan. The wall is now traceable from NW to just E of S. On the, W it is built along the top edge of a rocky platform and is c. 2.5m in width and no more than .5m high. Just E of S a stone set transversely to the line of the wall may mark the W side of the cashel entrance. A gap 1m wide is visible here. A modern field wall now runs along the E side close to the top of the steep edged rocky platform. A 'hut'(DG026-005002-)is indicated by a low grassed-over stone wall not exceeding .3m in height 2m to 3m in width, at the centre. The site is on an elevated platform of rock towards the E end of an E-W ridge which overlooks the Back Strand, of Sheephaven Bay. The enclosed area was approximately oval in plan (DG026-005001-). The wall is now traceable from NW to just E of S. - DG026-007: Ringfort - cashel, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CDG026-007----. Part of a collapsed stone wall survives along the edge of a flat-topped rocky platform which measures c. 25m E-W and c. 13m N-S. The monument seems to have been sub-rectangular in plan, the walls being straight sided with curved ends. The collapse along the N side is c. 2m wide and 0.5m-1m high. On the W it is of like height and up to 4m wide. A few scattered, moss-covered stones mark the line of the wall on the E but there is no trace of it on the S. A 1m gap on the N side gives access to a relatively gentle slope from the top of the platform. The site is now part of Ards Forest Park. There is much rock outcrop about and to the E and S low-lying wettish land along the W extremity of the Back Strand of Sheephaven Bay. ## Architectural heritage (National Inventory of Architectural Heritage)

- Saint John's Church (Clondahorky), church/chapel, 1750–1855, National interest, registry number 40902615, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG&regno=40902615. Freestanding Church of Ireland church, dated 1752, having four-bay nave with bellcote to west gable, Venetian window to east and west gables, porch addition to west with lower and shorter lean-to section added, and gabled vestry of c.1853 to northeast. Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered copings, curved kneeler stones, cavetto-moulded eaves course and replacement aluminium rainwater goods. Cut-stone bellcote with string courses, ovolo cornice and round-headed opening housing cast-iron bell. Pitched slate roof to vestry, with octagonal cut-stone chimneystack to apex. Hipped slate roof to addition, with raised eaves course. Roughcast rendered walls with raised quoins and having plinth course with buttress to north wall. Round-headed window openings to south wall of nave, none to north wall, with raised cut-stone Gibbsian surrounds, stone sills and eight-over-twelve pane timber sliding sash windows without horns. Venetian window to east gable has twenty-four-over-twenty-four pane timber sliding sash window flanked by nine-over-nine pane windows with Gibbsian jambs supporting entablature, moulded cornice and Gibbsian fanlight with triple keystone. West gable has replacement timber windows within cut-stone surrounds with projecting keystone. Vestry has round-headed window openings, single to west wall and double to west, with cut-stone surrounds, integral sills and cast-iron lattice windows. Square-headed doorways to porch, north wall having plain opening, and south wall having moulded surround, projecting keystone and timber battened double-leaf door. Elliptical-headed doorway to west wall of vestry, with chamfered surround and timber door with steps. Church set within graveyard with rubble stone boundary wall, curved-plan entrance having lined-and-ruled square-plan piers to south, with decorative wrought-iron double-leaf vehicular gate. School building to northwest with hipped slate roof.
- Ards House, tunnel, 1850–1870, Regional interest, registry number 40902629, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG&regno=40902629. Tunnel, built c.1860, leading from Ards House, having cut-stone ashlar piers to south end with string course to springer, and projecting cut-stone voussoirs with keystone. Reinforced concrete lintel to north elevation, with rubble stone walling over. Rusticated intrados to tunnel soffit. Set at angle to road, opposite Saint John's Church of Ireland church, with rusticated boundary retaining walls flanking to south, and having round-headed opening with metal gate to east.
