Internal diam. c. 27m. A subcircular area enclosed by a collapsed stone wall. The wall which survives to a height of .45m was probably originally c. 1.5m wide but now spills out as much as 8.4m. A gap in the wall in the NW sector is the most likely place for the entrance. A field bound-ary runs through the centre of the site N-S and stone walls or causeways run up to the cashel wall to the E and W. These could represent remains of an associ-ated field system. The interior slopes unevenly from N to S and loose stones could represent the remains of destroyed structures. It is situated on a rocky plateau with steep drops on most sides. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' In pasture, located on a slight elevation in gently undulating terrain broken by seams of limestone bedrock. Subcircular area (32m NW–SE; 28m NE–SW) defined by a low, moss- and grass-covered stone bank/wall (Wth c. 1.5- 2m). The stone bank is best preserved at NNE-SE where it incorporates large, irregular-shaped stone blocks, probably remnants of inner and outer wall facing. Elsewhere around the circuit, the stone bank is reduced to a slight rise or undulation from which occasional stones protrude, with sections at S and NW evident only as a mossy cropmark. The interior is grass-covered, with a few stones breaking the surface in the W half. The original entrance may have been at E where there appears to be a gap, marked on its outer S edge by a stone set perpendicular to the stone bank, and now partly obscured by stones and a hawthorn bush. There is a circular house (DG103-078002-) located 5m to SE, and another enclosure (DG103-079----) 170m to ENE. In pasture, located 5m to SE of an enclosure (DG103-078001-) in gently undulating terrain broken by seams of limestone bedrock. Very slightly raised, circular area (diam. 5.5m) defined on the perimeter by remnants of a stone wall. The wall is poorly defined and is evident as a low, moss- and grass-covered rise (Wth c. 0.7m; ext. H 0.4m) from which occasional large stones protrude. Irregular-shaped limestone blocks protrudes from the grass immediately to E and S of the house site, some at least of which appear to be bedrock. In rough, stony pasture, broken by extensive seams of limestone bedrock. Oval area (28m NW–SE; 14.4m NE–SW) defined by a low, grass-covered stone bank (Wth c. 1m; H 0.3m). The enclosing bank is poorly preserved and barely discernible in parts. The flat, grassy interior is distinctive in being relatively free of stones in a field which is heavily seamed by limestone outcropping and generally strewn with stones. The enclosure is bisected, slightly W of centre, by a later, now ruined, field wall (Wth 0.6m; H 0.4m) on a N–S axis. In rough, damp, rush-grown pasture, bordered immediately to NW by a low terrace of limestone outcropping, and overlooked c. 50m to S by an E–W ridge. Subcircular area (18.2m E–W; c. 16.7m N-S) defined on the NW half by low, earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6m) outside which is a broad, flat-based fosse (Wth 3-3.5m; H 0.4-0.5m) with remnants of an external bank (Wth 3.5m; H 0.4-0.45m). The SE half of the enclosure is not clearly defined, merging almost imperceptibly with very wet, rush-grown ground where the outline of the fosse cannot be clearly traced and where the outer bank is absent. The interior is level, with firmer drier ground in the N third but increasingly wet towards the S. In the N half of the interior there is a low semicircular rise (c. 2.5m E–W), curving WSW–NE, of unknown function. The siting of this enclosure in low, wet ground is to be noted as it differs from other enclosures in this locality, the majority of which are located on dry ground or on elevated terraces and ridges. In pasture, located on a slight rise, with lowlying and wetter ground to NW, in an area of undulating terrain and limestone ridges. Slightly raised, subrectangular area (c. 9m E–W; 10.4m N–S) defined on the perimeter by a low, broadly slumped rim (Wth 3-3.5; int. H 0.1-0.2m; ext. H 0.4m), with a very low area or gap (Wth c. 2m) at W. A large stone is embedded in the rim at the SW. A barely discernible linear rise, probably a levelled field boundary, extends to WSW from the W side of the structure. The function and date of this structure is uncertain.
