The site marked 'Cashelmacadowan Fort' on the three editions of the OS 6-inch maps is not now traceable. Three small grass-covered heaps of stone, on the NW, may have come from the enclosing wall. Old cultivation ridges run N-S in what was the interior. It was sited on a low rise in undulating ground, in pasture land. It seems likely from the name and topography that this was a cashel. Pre-development testing was carried out by Richard Crumlish under licence No. 07E0013 on 8 January 2007 at a site in Carrowcanon, Falcarragh, Co. Donegal. The proposed development was located within the archaeological constraint for an enclosure site, marked on the OS maps as ‘Cashelmacadowan Fort’. The monument was located just outside the southern boundary of the site, with its northern limit just extending into the proposed development site. The proposed development (NGR 19411/43223), situated in a pasture field, consisted of the construction of a dwelling house, garage, septic tank and percolation area. The testing consisted of the excavation (by machine) of five trenches, located along the proposed driveway to and through the garage, through the centre of the proposed dwelling, along the east side of the proposed dwelling, from the proposed dwelling to the percolation area and along that section of the southern site boundary closest to the monument. The trenches measured 59.6m, 18.5m, 13.3m, 42m and 31m long respectively, 0.9–1.1m wide and 0.25–0.55m deep. Below the topsoil was orange/brown friable silt loam and blue/grey and rust-coloured compact boulder clay. Several sherds of modern pottery, mostly whiteware, were recovered from the topsoil. The testing revealed natural stratigraphy and nothing of archaeological significance (Bennett 2010, 76). The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. Detached four-bay single-storey former national school, built c. 1877, having projecting single-bay single-storey entrance porch to the east elevation. Now in use as church hall associated with Eaglais Naomh Fionán [Saint Finian's Catholic Church] (see 40812008) adjacent to the south-west having modern three-bay single-storey extension attached to the south gable end. Pitched artificial slate roof with cast-iron rainwater goods, scrolled cut stone kneeler stones to the gable ends at eaves level, and with two slightly projecting splayed squared and snecked rubble stone chimneystacks to the east elevation having feathered ashlar skews and with moulded copings over. Mono-pitched slate roof to porch having scrolled cut stone kneeler stones to the gable ends at eaves level. Squared and snecked rubble stone walls with flush rusticated\mildly rock-faced block-and-start quoins to the corners. Square-headed window openings to the west elevation having chamfered ashlar surrounds, sills and lintels, paired square-headed window openings with central chamfered ashlar mullion, and with replacement windows. Tripartite square-headed window opening to the south gable end having chamfered ashlar surround, sill, lintel, and mullions, squared rubble stone relieving arch over, and with replacement windows. Pointed arched door opening to the north face of porch having chamfered ashlar block-and-start surround, and with replacement battened timber door. Set back from road to the east of the centre of An Fál Carrach [Falcarragh]. Located adjacent to Saint Finian's Catholic church (see 40812008). Tarmacadam forecourt to the west, gravelled yard to the east, and small garden to the north-west and west. Rubble stone boundary wall with rubble stone soldier coping over to road-frontage to the north, the east boundary, and short section to the north-west. Pedestrian gateway to the north having a pair of ashlar gate piers (on square-plan) having decorative pitched ashlar coping stones over with roll moulding to ridge, replacement metal gate, and with cut stone steps.
- Drumavoghy Bridge, bridge, 1800–1820, Regional interest, registry number 40902528, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG&regno=40902528. Three-arch road bridge, built c.1810, crossing Abhainn Ráithe [Ray River]. Altered c.1860 and renovated mid- to late twentieth century. Round arches with dressed stone voussoirs, and triangular cut-waters with smooth-rendered copings, coursed rubble spandrels and parapets with rusticated copings, abutments flanking arches to north and south elevations.
