Internal diam. c. 17.8m. A subcircular area enclosed by a stone wall 1m high except on the S side where the natural scarp is used and a wall may never have existed. In the NE quad-rant two rises might indicate the remains of a struc-ture. It is situated on a level platform which slopes to the SW. Freestanding five-bay double-height Catholic church, built c. 1814, having extension to north to form T- plan, built c. 1833, three-stage tower (on square-plan) to the west, built 1843, having crenellated parapet and with cut stone pinnacles\bartizans to the corners supported on cut stone corbels, modern single-bay gable-fronted two-storey extension to the north gable end, and gable-fronted bay to the centre of the south elevation having modern two-bay gable-fronted extension attached to the south. Pitched natural slate roofs with pierced terracotta ridge tiles, cast-iron profiled gutters on render corbels to the main body of church, and with raised rendered verges to the gable ends having gable-fronted kneeler stone detailing on moulded render corbels at eaves level, and with cross finials to gable apexes. Smooth rendered walls; dressed rubble stone masonry to tower having flush dressed cut stone block-and-start quoins to the corners, and with cut stone stringcourses, delineating stages; round-headed statue niche to the west elevation of tower at second stage level having cut stone surround, cut stone hoodmoulding over, and with statue of the Virgin Mary. Pointed-arch window openings with Y-tracery, leaded windows, and with stucco hoodmouldings over; pointed-arched window openings to either side of altar to south elevation having leaded figurative stained glass windows; rose window to south gable over altar having leaded figurative stained glass fittings. Pointed-arch window openings to tower at first stage level having dressed stone surrounds, leaded windows, and cut stone hoodmouldings over. Pointed-arched openings to tower at belfry\third stage level having dressed stone surrounds, stone sills, cut stone hoodmoulding over, and with timber louvered fittings. Square-headed window openings with modern one-over-one sash windows to modern additions to the north and south elevations. Pointed-arch headed door openings to the north and south elevations of tower having dressed stone surrounds, replacement battened timber doors with salvaged decorative wrought-iron hinges, and with cut stone hoodmoulding over. Pointed-arched door opening to the west elevation of modern addition to the north having dressed stone block-and-start surround, cut stone hoodmoulding, and with battened timber double-doors. Exposed timber queen post roof trusses to interior with timber boarded ceiling, galleries supported on cast-iron columns having timber panelled balustrades, marble altar goods, carved marble reredos c. 1920, encaustic tiled floor, and with timber wainscoting to sill level. Set back from road in an elevated corner site to the south-east of the centre of Clonmany. Graveyard to site having collection of mainly upstanding late nineteenth and twentieth-century memorial markers, some with railed enclosures. Some Commonwealth graves to site. Rendered boundary walls to road-frontage to the south. Gateway to the south-west comprising a pair of rendered gate piers (on square-plan) having a pair of decorative wrought-iron gates. - House, 1800–1840, Regional interest, registry number 40901022, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG®no=40901022. Detached three-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c. 1820, windbreak porch to front, single-bay extension to west and single-bay byre to east. Pitched thatched roof with latticed restraining ropes and cast-iron stays, pitched artificial slate to extension, flat cornice to porch, limewashed rendered chimneystacks to gable ends of three-bay structure, cast-iron rainwater goods. Limewashed render to random rubble stone walls. Square-headed window openings over painted sills, replacement timber windows. Square-headed door opening, replacement timber glazed and panelled door. Set in own grounds with outbuildings to south west; two-bay with round pitched thatch and rubble stone walls; and two-bay with flat corrugated-metal roof and rubble stone walls. - Railway station, 1890–1910, Regional interest, registry number 40901024, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG®no=40901024. Detached three-bay two-storey former railway station, built c. 1901, with attached four-bay single-storey waiting room to west and single-bay single-storey building to east; modern porch extension to rear (platform) elevation, single-storey modern extension to waiting room rear elevation; now two dwellings. Pitched slate roof with pierced decorative clay ridge comb, red brick chimneystacks with plinth and bracketed cornice and clay pots to gable ends of main building and to west gable end of waiting room, cast-iron and replacement rainwater goods on painted timber bargeboards; artificial slate to attached building to east. Rock-faced squared and snecked limestone walls limestone walls with yellow brick block-and-start quoins, yellow brick stringcourse to ground and first floor level with continuous raised terracotta hoodmoulding over, projecting plinth with yellow brick capping. Square-headed window openings, yellow brick flat arches and raised plaster continuous hoodmoulding over, yellow brick block-and-start surrounds over painted cut stone sills, original timber two-over-two horned sash windows to rear and gable of waiting room, replacement timber casement and uPVC windows to remainder. Square-headed door opening, yellow brick flat arch and raised plaster continuous hoodmoulding over, yellow brick block-and-start surrounds, uPVC door with toplight over, former door to attached building to east end converted to window. Detached railway water tower associated with the former Clonmany Railway Station (see 40901025), built c. 1901, now disused. Steel storage tank set on brick-on-end corbel course on rock-faced squared and snecked limestone walls with limestone ashlar block-and-start quoins and brick-capped projecting plinth. Water spout to north elevation. Centrally-positioned round-headed window opening on east elevation, yellow brick round arch over, yellow brick block-and-start surrounds, sandstone sill, boarded. Centrally-positioned square-headed door opening on west elevation, yellow brick flat arch over and yellow brick block-and-start surrounds with remnant timber vertically-sheeted door. Foundry stamp to water tank north elevation reads ‘A Brown & Sons Ltd, Engineers, Londonderry’.
