A modern stone wall built to the E and below traces of an older fortification cuts off a promontory formed by two small inlets, to the SW and NE of the neck of land. Discontinuous stretches of stone show the original wall, the external facing of which can be traced in places, to the height of .7m. The original width of this wall was probably c. 2.8m. The interior is undulating with rock outcrop, erratics and vegetation. The NE slopes gradually to the sea but the SW is steeper. There are excellent views up Glencolumbkille valley. A cashel (DG080-021002-) is built inside this promontory fort. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Internal diam. c. 18m NNW-SSW, c. 17m WNW--ESE. A subcircular area enclosed now by a collapsed stone wall. The outer facing of this is visible in patches all the way round but the inner facing survives only on the W side. The thickness of the wall here is c. 1.45m. The SW section of the collapse is noticeably larger than elsewhere and it has been suggested (Herity 1971) that his may reflect some kind of intra-mural structure. Modern walls have been constructed on and across the enclosure. It is built on a knoll of bedrock on Doon Point a short distance WNW of and inside a promontory fort wall (DG080-021001-). The land is rocky with rough pasture and gives a good view of Glencolumbkille valley. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. There are crosses inscribed on three faces of the slab. The W face has a simple, bar cross with a pear-shaped terminal at the bottom and a rectangular terminal with internal markings at the top. The cross on the N side is a simple Latin cross with a bar terminal on top and on its Warm. On the E face of the slab is a simple Latin cross with bar terminals on each arm. All the lines on the slab are thinly incised and some features may have disappeared through weathering. The site is located in a garden overlooking the Glen Bay inlet in rough, rocky pasture.
