- DG090-005: Enclosure, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CDG090-005----. About 65 years ago during turf cutting operations a circular enclosure, formed of wooden stakes pointed and 'fired' driven into the mineral soil, was found under the turf. The area now consists of cut-away bog-land with a lot of pre-bog forest stumps in the vicinity. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Mass Rock at base of S facing low hillock on the floodplains of the Ballaghdoo River located immediately to the E. This monument consists of a flat slab (L 1m; Wth 0.6m; T 0.1m) resting on several support stones forming an altar structure which was 0.25m high above the ground. This slab is known locally as the mass rock (pers. comm. S O'Beirne). The faintest remains of incised lines can be traced on the surface of the mass rock and these appear to be forming a crude St. Brigid's Cross although this identification is not certain. Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c. 1860. Pitched/domed rope-and-stone peg thatch, recently renewed, having three smooth rendered chimneystacks (one to either gable end and one offset to the south side of centre). Stone pegs below eaves level for securing ropes/nets over thatch to main elevations (east and west) and to gable ends. Smooth rendered walls. Square-headed window openings having replacement two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed door opening having replacement timber door. Set back from road in elevated sloping site to the east of An Charraig/Carrick and the north of Cill Chartha/Kilcar overlooking Ballaghdoo River to the east. Laneway to house from road to the south-east. Garden to front of site. Detached single-bay single-storey outbuilding to the south having pitched corrugated metal roof, rubble stone walls and square-headed door opening with battened timber door.

Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1880, having single-bay projecting flat-roofed porch to the centre of the main elevation (east) and single-bay single-storey extension attached to the south gable end. Now out of use. Pitched natural slate roof to main body of building having raised render verges and rendered chimneystacks to gable ends. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Pitched artificial slate roof to single-storey addition to south having raised render verge and render chimneystack to the south gable end. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls having raised render block quoins to the corners of the main body of the building. Square-headed window openings having stone sills, moulded render architrave surrounds and two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed door opening to porch having replacement glazed timber door having plain overlight. Set back from road in mature overgrown grounds to the south-east of An Charraig/Carrick. Later single-storey flat-roofed outbuilding to rear (west).
