Pitched replacement slate roof and rainwater goods, rendered chimneystacks to the gable ends (north and south), and with two gable-fronted dormers to front elevation (east). Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls over projecting smooth rendered plinth course. Square-headed window openings with stone sills and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed window opening to the south end of the front elevation (east) at ground floor level having two fixed-pane timber display windows. Central square-headed doorway to the east elevation having battened timber door and plain fanlight over. Road-fronted at corner site to the north end of Milford at junction of Main Street and Cooper’s Road with south side elevation addressing Main Street. Three-bay single-storey addition to the rear having flat-roof with rendered chimneystack, rendered walls, and square-headed window openings with one-one-over pane timber sliding sash windows with vertical margin glazing bars. Freestanding four-bay double-height Reformed Presbyterian church\meeting house, dated 1837 and renovated\altered in 1927 and 2005, having recessed single-bay single-storey entrance porch to the east gable end attached to adjoining building and with single-storey addition to the rear at the north-east corner. Pitched artificial slate roof to main body of building with projecting cut stone eaves course, raised rendered parapets to the west gable end having cut stone or rendered coping over, decorative cut stone kneeler stones at eaves level, and with cut stone finial to gable apex. Raised roughcast rendered parapet to front face of porch (south). Roughcast rendered walls over recessed smooth rendered plinth course. Applied lettering to the south-east corner of building reading ‘MILFORD REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH’. Pointed-arched window openings having smooth rendered reveals, chamfered sills, and replacement window fittings. Square-headed doorway to the front face of recessed porch to east, set in pointed-arched recess with smooth rendered surround, having replacement timber double-doors, and with smooth rendered panel over with applied lettering reading ‘ERECTED 1837; REMOVATED 1926 AND 2005’. Square-headed doorway to the west end of the south elevation of church, set in pointed-arched recess with smooth rendered surround, and having a pair of replacement timber doors. Timber pews and timber tongue-and-groove sheeting walls to sill level, and with timber wall panelling and carved timber pulpit to the west end. Set slightly back from road with modern boundary walls to site. Located a short distance to the south-west of the centre of Milford. Modern metal gates to entrances. Freestanding double-height Presbyterian church\meeting house originally on ‘T-shaped’ plan, dated 1837, comprising four-bay hall with shallow projecting transepts to the north and south to the west end, projecting three-bay single-storey extension to the east gable end having central single-bay gable-fronted porch, dated 1956, and with attached double-height gable-fronted hall attached to the north, dated 1896, having modern two-bay addition attached to the north, c. 2010. Two-bay single-storey porch to the north side of nave attached to hall to north. Pitched artificial slate roofs having raised roughcast rendered coping to the gable ends to the west, south and east ends of original building having stepped smooth rendered coping over ,and with smooth rendered kneeler stones at eaves level (to south and east gables), gable-fronted smooth rendered or painted cut stone bellcote over the gable apex to the east end of original building having pointed-arched opening, smooth rendered finial over gable apex to the west end of original building, and with decorative smooth rendered finial over the south gable end of original building having gable-fronted faces to four cardinal points, and with pointed-arched blind recess to the south face and with corbelling to base. Freestanding single-bay single-storey gable-fronted entrance porch originally forming part of St. Columba’s Church of Ireland church, built c. 1858-60 and demolished post 1984 following damage from lightning strike. Porch possibly moved from another location to site and rebuilt. Pitched natural slate roof with stone ridge tiles, raised ashlar verges to gable ends having cut stone fleur-de-lys finials to gable apexes and moulded sandstone kneeler stones at eaves level, and with cut stone eaves course. Coursed rubble sandstone walls (rebuilt to the east elevation), mildly battered to base, having splayed stepped ashlar sandstone buttresses to corners with ashlar coping\skews over, tooled ashlar sandstone quoins. Pointed-arched window opening to the north elevation having chamfered dressed ashlar sandstone block-and-start surround, chamfered ashlar sandstone sill, and with cast-iron quarry glazed window with margin glazing bars. Pointed-arched doorway to the west gable end having staged chamfered ashlar sandstone surround, and with hoodmoulding over; reused pointed-arched doorway to the west gable end having staged chamfered ashlar sandstone surround. Modern metal gates to doorways. Bell metal bell to interior. Set back from road in hillside site to the west of the centre of Milford. Graveyard to the east and south-east of site having collection of mainly upstanding gravemarkers of mainly twentieth century date. Detached modern single-bay single-storey workman’s hut to the west corner of site having mono-pitched corrugated-metal roof, rubble sandstone walls (reused from former church to site) with reused flush ashlar sandstone quoins to corners, square-headed doorway to the east elevation having reused ashlar sandstone block and start surround with modern metal gate. Site (on irregular-plan) surrounded by coursed rubble stone boundary walls with rubble stone soldier coping over. Gateway to the east of site comprising a pair of partially rebuilt gate piers (on square-plan) having flush ashlar sandstone quoins to lower halves, ashlar plinths to base, rebuilt heads with pyramidal coping over, and with a pair of wrought-iron gates. Modern pedestrian gateway adjacent to the west of main gateway having reused squared and coursed sandstone gate piers (on square-plan) with pyramidal coping over, and with metal gate. Modern memorial stone (on square-plan) to boundary wall between gates commemorating former church to site. - House, 1900–1920, Regional interest, registry number 40818015, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG®no=40818015. Detached three-bay single-storey with attic level former local authority house, built c. 1910, having projecting gable-fronted single-bay entrance porch to the south-west end of the front elevation (south-east). Now out of use. One of a group of fourteen such detached former social authority houses built along the Kilmacrennan Road. Pitched natural slate roof with central red brick chimneystack having flat rendered coping over. Pitched natural slate roof to entrance porch. Roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills, and with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed doorway to porch having replacement timber panelled door. Set back from road in own grounds in to the south-west of the centre of Milford with garden and gravelled forecourt to front (south-east) and bounded on road-frontage by hedging. Laneway to the north-east side bounded by wire fence with timber posts. - House, 1820–1860, Regional interest, registry number 40818017, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG®no=40818017. Detached three-bay two-storey house with attic level, built c. 1840, having two-bay single-storey extension attached to the north gable end, and with two-storey extension to rear (unfinished). Now disused. Pitched artificial slate roof (fibre cement) having projecting eaves course, some surviving sections of cast-iron rainwater goods, and with rendered chimneys with flat copings. Roughcast rendered rubble stone walls. Irregularly-spaced square-headed window openings with decorative raised smooth rendered surrounds, painted stone sills, and with eight-over-eight pane timber sliding sash windows to outer bays and central six-over-six pane timber sliding sash window at first floor level; ground floor openings now blocked. Square-headed doorway, offset slightly to the north side of centre, having decorative raised smooth rendered surround, battened timber door with decorative ironmongery, and with four-paned overlight. Road-fronted on sloping site to the north of the centre of Milford. Attached two-bay single-storey extension to the north having pitched natural slate roof with projecting eaves course, and with rendered chimneystack to the north gable end having decorative clay pots over, rubble stone walls (formerly roughcast rendered; rendered to the north gable end), square-headed window opening having stone sill, and raised smooth rendered surround, and timber sliding sash window (now blocked), and with square-headed doorway having raised smooth rendered surround, battened timber door, and plain overlight. Laneway to the south giving access to rear (west). Detached two-storey outbuilding to the rear (west) having pitched natural slate roof, partially roughcast rendered rubble stone walls, and square-headed openings (outbuilding not viewed clearly). Attached\semi-detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1900. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, some surviving sections of cast iron downpipes with decorative metal brackets, projecting eaves course, and with yellow brick chimneystacks to the gable ends (north and south) having cornice copings over. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings at ground floor and segmental-headed window openings over at first floor level having six-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows and rendered stone sills. Segmental-headed door opening to the south end of the front elevation (east) having timber panelled door and decorative ironmongery, and with multi-paned overlight. Inner half-glazed timber door with fielded panel to base with bolection moulding, and with encaustic tiled threshold. Road-fronted to the north end of the centre of Main Street, Milford, with footpath to front (east) and laneway to the north giving access to the rear (west). Single-storey outbuilding to the west having pitched natural slate roof, rendered walls, and square-headed openings. - The Travellers Inn, house, 1860–1870, Regional interest, registry number 40818019, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG®no=40818019. Attached corner-sited five-bay two-storey house and public house, dated 1867, having two-bay public house front to the south-east corner, single-bay single-storey outbuilding attached to the north gable end with single-storey addition attached to the north, and with single-storey extension to the rear (west). Possibly formerly in use as a hotel. Pitched natural slate roof with projecting eaves courses, cast-iron rainwater goods, and with three rendered chimneystacks, one to either side of two-bay public house to the south having cornice coping and decorative clayware pots over, and on to the north gable end. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth course; smooth rendered wall to north gable elevation. Rounded\bevelled corner to building to the south-east corner at junction of Main Street and Kilmacrennan Road. Modern timber fascia to pub front to the east elevation. Square-headed window openings having smooth rendered reveals, some surviving stone sills, and with mainly six-over-six pane timber sliding sash window; fixed-pane multi-paned display windows to public house at ground floor level; single six-over-three pane timber sliding sash window to central bay to east elevation at ground floor level. Square-headed doorways to the east elevation having replacement battened timber doors with plain overlights. Road-fronted at corner site to the south end of the centre of Milford. Attached single-bay single-storey outbuilding to the north having pitched natural slate roof, roughcast rendered walls, and square-headed doorway with replacement fitting; single-storey addition attached to the north end of single-storey outbuilding. Detached three-bay three-storey house, built c. 1880, and altered c. 1920, having single-storey canted bays to either end of the front elevation (south) having continuous veranda roof over central doorway, and with four-bay three-storey return to the rear (north) incorporating former outbuilding to the north-east corner. Now out of use and derelict. Hipped natural slate roof with stone ridge tiles, two rendered chimneystacks to main body of building having flat copings and decorative clay-ware pots over, cast-iron rainwater goods, and with exposed rafter ends. Hipped slate roof over canted bays forming porch and replacement rainwater goods. Hipped natural slate roof to return having clay ridge tiles, cast-iron rainwater goods, and rendered chimneystacks. Smooth rendered walls at ground floor level and roughcast rendered walls at first and second floor level with projecting moulded rendered cornice to front elevation over first floor openings (formerly eaves cornice) shallow projection over central bay with scrolled console brackets to base, and with scrolled corners brackets corners of front elevation; eaves course brought around side elevations as plain stringcourse. Decorative stucco panel\plaque to centre of front elevation (south) at second floor level having central roundel motif surrounded by scrolled motifs set in recessed triangular-headed smooth rendered panel with stucco cornice over. Smooth rendered walls to canted bays having decorative stucco panels over. Stucco stringcourse over openings at ground floor level. Square-headed window openings to front elevation at first floor level having rendered architraved surrounds with vermiculated keystone motifs over, and with remains of one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows with vertical margin glazing bars. Square-headed window openings to canted bays (openings now blocked) having moulded ovolo rendered surrounds. Square-headed window openings to front elevation and main block to side elevations at second floor level having timber casement windows. Square-headed window openings to the side elevations of main block at ground and first floor levels and to rear return having two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows, one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows, and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows with vertical margin glazing bars. Central square-headed doorway to porch, now blocked, having moulded ovolo rendered surround with vermiculated keystone over. End-of-terrace attached five-bay two-storey house(s) and former public house, built c. 1820 and altered c. 1900, having two-storey extension to the rear (south-east). Possibly originally two or three houses later amalgamated to form a single property. Now out of use. Pitched slate roof having projecting eaves course, rendered chimneystack to the south-west gable end, and with some surviving sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Mono-pitch\catslide slate roof over extension to rear. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls over raised painted plinth course. Timber fascia over ground floor openings to centre of building reading ‘The White Heather Inn’ and John Riney (prop)’. Square-headed window openings with stone sills, and with mainly two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows; square-headed window opening at ground floor level to former public house (central bay) having two-pane fixed-pane display window. Square-headed window opening to the north-east side elevation at ground floor level having cast-iron lattice window. Square-headed doorway to the north end of two-bay two-storey house to the south-east of building having battened timber door with plain overlight. Detached three-bay two-storey with half-dormer attic level former town hall, built c. 1885, having central segmental-headed carriage-arch to the front elevation (west) originally giving access to former corn market to the rear (east). Also formerly with courthouse and later a library at first floor level and various retail outlets and a garage at ground floor level. Now disused. Pitched natural slate roof having exposed rafter ends, cast-iron rainwater goods, and having red brick chimneystacks to the gable ends (east and west) with moulded rendered cornice copings over. Three gable-fronted dormers to front elevation (west) having pitched natural slate roofs decorative pierced timber bargeboards with remains of timber spear finials to apexes; central gable-fronted dormer to the rear elevation (east) having pitched natural slate roofs decorative pierced timber bargeboards with timber spear finial to apex. Randomly coursed rubble stone walls with raised ashlar granite block-and-start to the corners; walls probably originally rendered. Square-headed window openings at first floor level having raised red brick block-and-start surrounds with integral granite splayed sills, and with paired one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed window openings to front elevation at ground floor level having raised red brick block-and-start surrounds with integral granite splayed sills, and with replacement timber casement windows. Central segmental-headed carriage-arch having raised ashlar granite block-and-start surrounds, ashlar granite voussoirs, and with a pair of metal gates. Remains of air pressure gauge to south end of front elevation. Road-fronted to the centre of Main Street, Milford, at junction with the Lough Road. Attached three-bay three-storey former warehouse or store, built c. 1885, with attached two-storey former store to the north-east having barrel-vaulted over. Building attached to the east elevation recently demolished. Now forms rear section of retail outlet. Pitched natural slate roof with clay ridge tiles. Random rubble stone walls with flush red brick block-and-start quoins to the margins. Cement rendered finish to ghost outline of former attached building to the east elevation. Square-headed window or loading bay openings with flush red brick block-and-start reveals and headers, and with timber panelled fittings. Attached multiple-bay two-storey former warehouse attached to the north-east corner having barrel-vaulted corrugated metal roof, rubble stone walls with flush red brick block-and-start quoins to the corners, square-headed window openings with red brick block-and-start reveals and replacement fittings, square-headed doorways with red brick block-and-start surrounds, and segmental-headed carriage-arch (now infilled with modern window and door fittings) having red brick voussoirs. Located to the rear (east) of buildings aligning the east side of the south end of Main Street, Milford, with car parks\yards adjacent to the east of both buildings. - Outbuilding, 1860–1900, Regional interest, registry number 40818033, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=DG®no=40818033. Detached three-bay two-storey outbuilding, built c. 1880, having flight of steps to the north-west gable end giving access to doorway at first floor level, and with half-dormer\loading bay opening to the centre of the main elevation (south-west). Possibly originally associated with a pound that lay adjacent to the east. Now in use as an agricultural outbuilding. Pitched natural slate roof with exposed rather ends and clay ridge tiles. Mono-pitched natural slate roof to half-dormer loading bay opening. Rubble stone walls with flush red brick block-and-start quoins to the corners. Square-headed window openings with brick block-and-start surrounds, some stone sills, and with timber fittings and shutters. Square-headed doorways with red brick block-and-start surrounds and battened timber doors and half-doors. Square-headed carriage-arch to the north end of the west elevation having red brick block-and-start surround, red brick voussoirs or relieving arch over, and with replacement corrugated-metal gates. North-west gable end faces on to road. Metal guard rails to flight of steps to the north-west gable end. Located to the north\north-west outskirts of Milford. Field to the west and field and former pound to the east. Rubble stone boundary walls to road-frontage to the west and rendered boundary wall to the north-east. Pitched slate roofs to half-dormer openings having terracotta ridge tiles, decorative timber bargeboards and with terracotta finials to the gable apexes. Smooth rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth course. Square-headed window openings with painted stone sills, and with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed doorway, offset to the north side of centre, having timber panelled door with bolection mouldings, and plain overlight. Modern timber shopfront to the south-east end having square-headed window opening with fixed-pane display window, square-headed doorway with glazed timber doors, and replica traditional timber shopfront.
