This stone-built altar like arrangement has been identified as a place where, during Penal times (1690s to 1750s), mass was celebrated. An unusual rock formation that served, c.1690-1825, as location of Catholic Masses during Penal Law era in Ireland. Sandstone structure with overhanging canopy, set into hillside and now forming boundary to private garden.
