On low flat bog-covered marshy land in mountain valley with higher ground to NW and nearby river stream located 130m to SE. Possible stone circle (DG096-030) located 370m to NE. Circle appears to have been uncovered in an area of cut away bog when local people were cutting turf in this area over the last 200 years. The circle is incomplete and appears to have consisted of numerous stones (approx. 41 ) forming a large circular area (diam. 15m N-S). The circle is best preserved from S to W where the low orthostats protruding above the surface of the ground measure an average height of 0.5m x length 0.7m. There is a single tall standing stone (H 1.4m x 0.9m x 0.25m) at ESE which may be the remains of an entrance stone. This stone is orientated on a NW-SE axis. Situated on wet bog-covered marshy land On SE facing slope of rising ground in mountain valley with high ground to NW and river valley to SW. Nearby stone circle (DG 096-029) located 370m to SW and megalithic tomb (DG091-005-) located 945m to N. Barely visible outline of low orthostats protruding above the heather covered terrain forming a possible stone circle (diam. 8.5m) the interior of which appears to be dry and free of rock outcrop and was visible by the differential growth of the vegetation in this circular area. This monument is not clearly visible and it is possible that it would be clearer during the winter months. It is also located in an area of rock outcrop which makes it difficult to be certain whether this feature are the remains of a bog covered stone circle or just a natural arrangement of rock outcrop forming a rougly circular feature. Situated on wet marshy land on steep S facing slope of rising ground in mountainous region with stream immediately to the E. Depicted as an oval shaped enclosure (int. diam. 14m N-S; 8m E-W) on latest ed. OS 6-inch map. Present remains consist of a sub-rectangular shaped area defined by a heather-covered drystone wall (H 0.9m ; T 0.8m) which apprears to have been extended or rebuilt on the S half of the enclosure as there is a change in the appearance or the construction of the enclosing stone wall along the S half of the W side of the enclosure and along the whole of the S side, this later wall appears to be connected with a post-1700 AD field wall which intersects the enclosure at the SW angle. The small stream which acts as a townland boundary intersects the site on the E side of the enclosure and has resulted in the collapse of the outer face of the enclosing element of the enclosure on this side. It is possible that this may be a pre-1700 enclosure that was later converted and rebuilt as a sheepfold with accompanying field wall in the post-1700 AD period.
