A heart-shaped depression is carved on the surface of a flat shelf of rock overhung by more rock. It was discovered in the 1920's and considered as a holy well since. It is situated in marshy land marked by rock outcrop. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. There are many modern gaps in the bank cut for drainage purposes. The site is located on the E slope of a wet hill with good views to E, N and S. Freestanding line of rectangular-plan coursed rusticated granite piers with concrete copings, pair of cast-iron piers, pair of concrete (?) piers, and four-arch bridge, built c.1903, all part of defunct Owencarrow Viaduct on former Letterkenny to Burtonport line. Arches to bridge are segmental, with cut-stone rusticated voussoirs and with rendered copings to parapets. Sited crossing Abhainn Choradh [Owencarrow River].

Former railway viaduct taking former Letterkenny to Burtonport line over An Bearnas [Barnes Gap], erected c.1903, comprising two rusticated arches to southeast and two freestanding rusticated stone piers to northwest, formerly carrying steel girders. Rusticated stone voussoirs forming round arches, with coursed rusticated masonry with drafted margins to spandrels and extending to low parapet having concrete copings with string course at springing level of arch to northwest. Coursed rusticated piers with drafted margins and ashlar rusticated copings.
