Situated on the W summit of Feltrim hill. Prior to quarrying, the site comprised an oval area (35m E-W; 25m N-S) enclosed by a drystone wall (Wth 2m; H 1m). Entrance in the E (Wth c. 2m) originally protected by an inner and outer timber gate (Hartnett and Eogan 1964, 21). Excavations in the late 1940s in advance of quarrying produced extensive evidence for an impressive domestic assembly on the site (ibid. , 147). There are no visible remains. Annotated 'Lady Well' on 1837 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Formerly located on the N facing slope of Feltrim Hill. This site was removed during quarrying operations (Ó Danachair 1958, 79). Folklore collected from Kinsealy School recorded the following details; 'The well at Feltrim is situated in a field inside an iron gate on the road that leads to Swords. It is dedicated to Our Lady. It is used for household purposes. Years ago two priests were cured at it one with diabetes and the other with cancer. The well at St Dolough’s will only cure sore eyes but the well at Feltrim will cure any disease' (The Schools’ Collection, Volume 0792, Page 231; https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4498829/4385775/4510868). Folklore collected from Swords School recorded the following details about this well; 'Near Swords there is a hill called Feltrim on this hill there is a well called St. Brigids well. Located on the summit of Feltrim Hill as depicted on Rocque's 1760 Map of County Dublin. where it is shown as a circular-shaped tower with conical roof and four wind-sails.. A photograph of the windmill taken around the year 1890, shows the windmill as a tapering tower standing three storeys high with no roof and an old quarry is visible in close proximity to the windmill (NLI, L_ROY_07917). According to Flanagan (1984, 52, 59) this structure was erected originally as a woollen mill by Dutch workers shortly after 1667 using Dutch bricks (1984, 52, 59). It was later converted to a corn mill and operated as such until 1839 when it was also used as a Semaphore Tower transmitting messages from hill to hill as part of a network of hilltop towers transmittin messages between Dublin and Belfast in the early 19th-century (ibid.) Windmill demolished on the 23rd of October in 1973 except for the base. Today substantial remains of the base survive located on a precipice overlooking a modern quarry which surrounds the base of the windmill. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien

Known locally as Fagan’s castle, it was, in the reign of Elizabeth I, the prison of the Earl of Desmond. It was also reputedly where James II spent a night when fleeing the Battle of the Boyne (Dalton 1838, 212). There is a castle marked on the Down Survey (1655-6) map. Flanagan also refers to a castle at Feltrim (1984, 53-4). Located on the lower east facing slope of Feltrim Hill. Access from an avenue that led to Feltrim House. E of the avenue there is a tall, masonry, pier-like structure (H c. 4.5m). It is L-shaped in ground plan (Max. L N-S 2.25m, Max. Wth E-W2.05m). There is a rectangular recess in the W face above head height. To the S of this masonry pier there is an area of collapse.
