An inspection in 1994 recorded a vernacular building in a largely disused farmyard. The dwelling was one storey high with a lobby-entry plan. Built of clay and stone. Hipped roof of unsown timbers pegged together and supporting a wheaten thatch covered with corrugated iron. It had a large open hearth with brick canopy supported by stout unsown bressamer. There was a brick-lined, domed wall oven to one side of the hearth. This may have been the dwelling house of George Taffe where mass was said in 1630 (Ronan 1940, 71) and the same 'farmhouse' mentioned in the Civil Survey in 1654-166 (Simington 1945, 75; Vernacular Building Survey of County Dublin, 2 (015). The site was reinspected in 2010. None of the upstanding vernacular farm buildings matched the above description. The new owner had found that a house had existed on the site but had been pulled down sometime in the last 20 years. Located in low-lying pasture. This platform ringfort comprises a circular raised area (diam.40m; H 2m) with slight traces of a bank around the perimeter (Wth 8m, H c. 0.6m) and an external fosse at the base (Wth 10m; D 0.5m). There is an entrance ramp in SE (Wth 3m). The site is cut by a drain along the W section (Healy 1975, 16). The fosse is no longer visible due to potato planting two years running plus significant insertion of drainage. The ringfort provides dry ground for the cattle and as a consequent has suffered severe poaching. The recent wet years resulted in the surrounding field being subject to extensive flooding and the ringfort being the only high land. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
