In low-lying grassland liable to flooding, NW of a turlough. Circular enclosure (D 56.5m), very poorly preserved, enclosed by a bank and external fosse from WSW through N to NE. No visible surface trace survives elsewhere. A smaller enclosure (D 14.3m), possibly contemporary, adjoins the monument at NW and is also defined by a bank and external fosse. A gap and causeway at NE mark the original entrance. A field boundary cuts it at NE and SW. Another enclosure (GA042-052----) lies c. 120m to NW. On a NW-facing slope overlooking seasonal floodland. Aerial reconnaissance in September 1984 (ASGAP 148:53-5) revealed a series of field boundaries extending over an area c. 600m NE-SW by c. 400m NW-SE. These are predominantly defined by low grassed-over stony banks. Though a number of subrectangular fields are visible at SW, the bulk of the remains form no coherent pattern. A number of rectangular house foundations were noted close to NW limits: possibly indicating an associated settlement cluster. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. On a rise in undulating grassland. Aerial reconnaissance in November 1987 (ASGAP 385:11) brought to light an irregular enclosure cut by a field wall. What survives is a poorly preserved enclosure (E-W 62m) defined by a collapsed grassed-over stone wall curving from W through N to E. A field wall cuts the monument at E and W and no visible surface trace survives to S of it.
