In level pastureland. Poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. c. 40m) defined by a drystone wall. A field wall overlies the enclosing element at S. In level grassland. Well-preserved circular cashel (diam. c. 53.4m) defined by a drystone wall, which is overlain by a field wall at E. The interior is densely overgown. McCaffrey (1952, 281, no. 48) noted a blocked-up entrance gap (Wth c. 3m) at E, from which there extended into the interior ‘a platform or walk of boulders’ (L c. 7.6m; Wth c. 2.4m). He also noted that the entrance was flanked by ‘two rows of boulders making an avenue or approach’ (L c. 9m). Westropp (1919a, 182), who remarks upon the former feature, also noted traces of ‘an outer ring about 12 to 14 feet [3-3.6m] outside the main rampart’; it was evident from SE to SW. No visible surface trace of these features survives. There is a souterrain (GA114-037001-) in the NW quadrant of the interior. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 13 January 2017 - GA114-037001: Souterrain, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CGA114-037001-. Within the NW quadrant of a cashel (GA114-037----). This souterrain was described by Westropp (1919a, 182) as ‘running west-north-west to east-south-east for about 54 feet [c. 16.5m] long, turning nearly at right angles for over 20 feet [c. 6m] in a north-eastern direction’, suggesting it was L-shaped in plan. It was choked with debris and was about ‘3 feet [c. 0.9m] wide near the top’. It is now inaccessible. On a rise in pastureland. Poorly preserved circular rath (diam. 30m) defined by a degraded earthen bank, which was possibly revetted with stone. Within the NW quadrant of a rath (GA114-038----). This souterrain consists of a lintelled and dry-stone built passage (L 4-4.5m Wth 1.2m) which runs N-S. The access point at the S end is now blocked up with stones. A depression (L 4m) to the S of this may indicate a section that has collapsed.
