In low-lying reclaimed tillage. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a small circular enclosure (D c. 15m). Though no visible surface trace survives, the site is known locally as a 'lios'. In low-lying grassland overlooking Levally Lough to S. Subcircular rath (N-S 59m, E-W 56.5m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is present from NE to SE and from SW to NW; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse and outer bank are visible only from SE to SSW. A field bank overlies the inner bank from NNE to E. There is a local tradition of a 'cave' (possible souterrain) within the interior, no visible surface trace of which survives. A circular earthen mound (D 5m) also within the interior appears to be modern. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. - Catholic Church of Our Lady and Saint Jarlath, church/chapel, 1945–1950, Regional interest, registry number 30403008, https://www.buildingsofireland.ie/niah/search.jsp?type=record&county=GA&regno=30403008. Freestanding gable-fronted Roman Catholic church, dated 1948, having five-bay long elevations, slightly lower single-bay chancel to west end, and gabled porch to north elevation. Pitched slate roof with wide eaves. Rendered walls. Round-headed windows to long elevations with render sills. Square-headed doorway to gable-front with Diocletian window above having stained glass, both openings set within shallow round-headed recess.
