- GA029-039: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CGA029-039----. In level grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (NW-SE 25m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is present from SW to W; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse and outer bank survive from SW through N to NE. A silage pit occupies NE quadrant of the interior. A ringfort (GA029-040----) lies c. 230m to WSW. Some 230m WSW of a ringfort (GA029-039----). Circular rath (D 29m), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse. The bank survives from S through W to NE, and the fosse is visible from SW to W. Quarrying has encroached upon the monument from NE to S. On N-facing slope of a hillock in grassland. Poorly preserved circular rath (D 33.5m) defined by an overgrown bank and external fosse. The latter is present from E to S. A gap at ENE could be original. An enclosure (GA029-077----) lies c. 250m to W, and two ringforts (GA029-078---- and GA029-079----) c. 300m to WSW. On S slope of a ridge in pastureland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a cluster of trees enclosed by a circular broken line. It comprises an oval enclosure (E-W 50m, N-S 37m) defined by an inner bank, an intervening fosse, and an outer bank which is present only from W to NW. Mature trees are growing along the inner bank and in the interior which is also subdivided by a later bank. Possibly a tree-ring enclosure but it could be a landscaped ringfort. On an E-facing slope in pastureland. A poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 34.5m, N-S 33m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The outer bank appears to have more stone in its makeup than the inner one. A gap at ESE appears original. Cultivation ridges are evident within the interior. In gently undulating pastureland. An oval mound (dims. 23m N-S; 14m E-W) defined by gently sloping sides (H 1.15m). There is a slight linear depression (L 8m; Wth 3.5m; D 0.15m) at the base of mound on W side and the remains of stone field boundary, aligned WNW-ESE, on NE side. On top of a low ridge in pastureland. This subcircular area (dims. 9m N-S; 7.8m E-W) is defined by an irregularly edged earthen scarp (Wth 0.65m; H 0.45m) with evidence of external stone kerbing in places. The scarp has been straightened all around for short lengths. The interior is uneven with slight dips in places. An ESB pole stands 4m to the NW. The outline of a levelled subcircular enclosure (c. 35m NW-SE; c. 33m NE-SW) is visible on aerial imagery dating from 1995 (Geohive MapGenie Imagery). A later field wall cuts across it from NNW to ESE. Possibly a rath as a number survive in this locality, see GA029-041---- which lies c. 20m to the SW. Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c.1870, comprising fluted cylindrical shaft, spout with fluted neck and plain bucket grip, banded neck, cow's tail pumping arm, fluted upper part topped with fluted domed cap with pointed finial. Pump set on concrete plinth with protective wall to sides and rear and accessed by flight of concrete steps.
