This is a disused gravel pit; it is not an archaeological monument. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 17 June 2015 - GA106-060: Ringfort - rath, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CGA106-060----. On a slight rise in low-lying pastureland. Poorly preserved oval rath (c. 60m E-W; c. 50m N-S) defined by a bank outside of which runs a berm-like feature from WNW through N to ENE. There is a possible house site (GA106-060002-) in the N sector of the interior and to its W a low circular grassed-covered stony mound (diam. 4m); it may be associated. A souterrain (GA106-060001-) lies in ENE sector. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 8 December 2017 - GA106-060001: Souterrain, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CGA106-060001-. In the ENE sector of a rath (GA0106-060----). This drystone-built souterrain appears to be L-shaped in plan. The 1st passage (L >4.4m; Wth 1.6m) runs NW-SE. Access is gained at its NW end. A linear depression, with evidence of drystone-walling, indicates that that it extended further to the NW. The 2nd passage, which is inaccessible, extends from its SE end and it appears to run E-W. In the N sector of the interior of a rath (GA106-060----). This collapsed rectangular structure (L 9.4m; Wth 4.5m) is probably the remains of a house site. A low circular grassed-covered stony mound (diam. 4m) to its W may be associated.
