(McCaffrey 1952, 286, no. 52) Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 7 March 2018 - GA114-148: Designed landscape feature, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CGA114-148----. In level pastureland, formerly within the demesne of Tullira. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as an unenclosed roughly subcircular mixed tree plantation; on the 1921 edition it is enclosed by a wall. Described by McCaffrey (1952, 286, no. 52a) as a ‘very ruinous’ circular ‘Stone fort (?)’ (diam. c. 54m) with a tree plantation in the interior. The enclosing wall was hidden among the trees. The plantation is still evident but the enclosing wall consists of circular field wall. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted. The current evidence is insufficient to warrant accepting this as an archaeological monument; possibly a landscape feature. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 17 June 2019 - GA114-149: Ringfort - cashel, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CGA114-149----. On a gentle rise in rough grazing land. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 285, no. 50a) as a circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 37.25m) defined by a double-faced drystone wall. Traces of an internal division or remains of possible hut sites were noted in the interior (SMR file). Apart from slight traces of a bank at W, no visible surface trace survives. A unit for collecting rain water occupies the interior. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
