Described in OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1972, Vol. 1, 645) as 'a templeen' but named as 'Church' on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map. It is marked thereon as a roofed rectangular building aligned E-W. All that now survives is its grassed-over outline (E-W; L 12m, Wth 6m) defined by a wall foundation (H 0.2-0,5m; Wth 0.8m) and partially shaded by a solitary chestnut tree. A gap towards W end of S wall may mark the position of the doorway. A small almost square enclosure (E-W 11.5m, N-S 11m) adjoins it on N side. This is defined by a low bank with a possible entrance at NW corner. According to local tradition, this church was in use until the early 19th C. This and its stratigraphical relationship with the enclosure (GA087-211004-) that lies to its NW hint that it may be a post-medieval foundation, possibly a pre-emancipation RC chapel, though the td. name might suggest otherwise. A CBG (GA087-211002-) and a series of earthworks (GA087-211003-) are associated. Immediately S of a church (GA087-211001-). A subrectangular area (N-S 22m, E-W 20m) enclosed by a bank and linear depression define E side and the church forms N limits. A gap in the bank along S side probably marks the entrance. The burials consist of rows of unworked and uninscribed grave-markers indicating graves oriented E-W. Two small grass-covered stone mounds are evident to S. According to local information the graveyard was in use until the early 19th century. (ASGAP 171:10). Associated with an enclosure (GA087-211004-) and church (GA087-211001-). Aerial reconnaissance in August 1984 (ASGAP 171:10) brought to light a series of low earthen banks and/or scarps on the ridge. These formed narrow terraces in places. A number of the banks appear to radiate from the enclosure. Two other possible curvilinear enclosures (E-W 22m and c. 50m) were also noted, c. 100m to S of the latter. These are defined by a scarp and a bank, respectively, and both are partially overlain by a modern field boundary running NE-SW. Little or no trace of them survives to N of the boundary. On a N-S running ridge in undulating pastureland overlooking the Ballinure River to W. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as an oval enclosure immediately to NW of a church (GA087-211001-). It consists of an oval area (N-S 46m, E-W 30m) defined by a low degraded bank (Wth 2.7m, H 0.6m max.). This has been destroyed from E to SSE where the church and a small adjoining enclosure overlie it. A series of earthworks (GA087-211003-) is associated.
