- KE009-049: Ringfort - cashel, https://heritagedata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0c9eb9575b544081b0d296436d8f60f8&query=18a4b61b268-layer-9%2CSMRS%2CKE009-049----. Internal diameter 30.4m N-S, 35m E-W This univallate stone fort is situated in the corner of a pastoral field with fieldbanks running into the enclosing bank to the NW and SE. It consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank and traces of an exterior fosse. The enclosing stone-lined bank is 6.4m wide; it rises to 2m-3.8m externally and to 1.2m-2.7m above the interior. The external fosse is evident from the NW through N to E to SE, where it is 2m wide and .6m below the surrounding land. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land and access is gained by a 2.6m wide entrance to the E. The above description is derived from C. Internal diameter 40.5m N-S Caherbuckaun/Cathair Bhocáin (stonefort of Bocán - personal name). This site is situated in the corner of a pastoral field, and a stream lies to the E. SE of this site lies a univallate cahir (KE009-051----). It consists of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined stone-lined bank, which rises to c 2m externally and 1.2m internally. Access to the interior is obtained by an entrance to the E, which was originally stone lined. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land and is gently sloping E. 'Caves' are marked on the 1841-42 OS map and in the centre of the interior is a sub-circular area, 21.7m N-S and 14.8m E-W. This is possibly the remains of the souterrain feature (KE009-050001-) . This site is situated at the bottom of a pastoral field which is sloping S. Beside a small E flowing stream is a grass covered horseshoe-shaped mound measuring 5.28m N-S, 11.28m E-W and .4m high.
