A large circular enclosure situated on a N facing slope overlooking the Lispole valley. It measures 84m in diameter internally and the earthen enclosing bank is 1.25m high externally and 1.7m high internally. The bank has been rebuilt in places with stone. The external ditch around much of the N half of the site may be a field drain. At present access to the interior is provided by 2 breaks in the W part of the bank. Internal diam. 28m. This circular univallate rath lies on a N facing slope about 150m from the E bank of the Owenalondrig river. The laneway which skirts the NW half of the enclosure has recently been improved and the outer flank of the bank in this sector is now 3m high and has been partly faced with stone. Elsewhere the bank is c. 1.5m high externally. It rises c. 1.2m above the interior. Access to the interior is provided by 2 gaps at S and SW. Internal diam. 24m N-S, 26m E-W. A roughly circular univallate rath situated in a commanding position on the E-W ridge that bounds the S side of the Lispole valley. The external fosse survives around the N side of the enclosure for a little more than half its circumference. It is .75m deep below the external ground level and c. 3.5m wide. The earthen bank is a maximum of 2.5m high externally and 1.25m high internally. There appears to have been continuous drystone facing on its outer flank, but this is now either densely overgrown or collapsed and few sections are visible for examination. Much of the S part of the inner flank is also stone-faced. The adjacent field fences also consist of stone-faced earthen banks and it is not certain that the stone facing on the ringfort bank is an original feature. A 2.4m wide gap at ESE probably represents the original entrance. There is also a 2.1m wide gap at W, but there is no corresponding causeway across the fosse at this point. The interior is occupied by several mounds and depressions of uncertain origin, but a small lintelled cavity in the NE sector may be part of a souterrain KE054-008001-. Access to the interior is provided by 3 narrow gaps in the ESE sector. The only feature visible in the interior is an oval depression measuring 9m E-W x 5.4m N-S; its origin is not known. A low standing stone situated on a N facing slope, below the low hill where the stone alignment (KE054-016----) is located. It is a large boulder set upright in the ground and measures 1.45m in height and .6m x .65m at base; SSE-NNW. The sides splay outwards to a maximum width of 1.68m and then taper slightly to the top which is divided into two peaks; several packing stones are visible on the W side. Dense vegetation and waterlogging prevent a detailed examination of this unusual circular enclosure located on the summit of the W end of an E-W ridge overlooking the Lispole valley to N. It consists of a circular raised platform, surrounded by a shallow fosse and an external bank, with traces of an external fosse in the SW sector. A drain has been excavated around the outside of the bank in the NW sector and the bank in this sector appears to have been maintained as a field boundary. The fosse is 2 to 3m wide and the central platform is 34m in diameter. Roughly centrally placed on the platform, which is strewn with much stone, is a circular depression enclosed by a low stone and earth bank, the overall feature measuring c. 11m in diameter. This roughly circular enclosure lies about 50m from the N bank of the Glaunshavanowen river. Bones have been uncovered here in the past and the site is locally thought to be a graveyard. The enclosure measures 18.5m N-S x 20m E-W internally and is defined by a stone-topped, earthen bank. The bank averages .75m in internal height, but in the SW sector the interior is defined by only a 3m high drop to the exterior, and along the E sector the bank has been destroyed and is replaced by a N-S field wall. The foundations of a rectangular structure abut the inner face of the bank in the S sector. It measures 5.4 x 3.2m and is aligned E-W. A large oval depression, 9.3m E-W x 4m N-S x .5m deep, abuts the N side of the latter. There are possible traces of a hut foundation abutting the W part of the bank but these are confused by several stony mounds which probably mark graves. The presence of the internal structures suggests that this site is more than just a burial ground. Perhaps it was formerly a rath or an early ecclesiastical settlement. Internal diam. 27.4m. This circular univallate enclosure is situated at the N edge of a complex of farm buildings and is now used as a slurry pit. The SE section of the enclosing bank has been completely destroyed and the SW section survives only as a low scarp, the interior being raised slightly above the external ground level. The N half of the enclosure is bounded by a wall measuring .5m in width and up to 1.5m in height. Externally, this latter rests on an earthen platform, c. 1.25m wide and 1m high. It seems likely that this platform represents the remains of the original enclosing bank and that the overlying wall is a late feature. Slight traces of a fosse, c. 2m wide, encircle this platform. Situated on a generally W facing slope, commanding an extensive view over the Lispole valley and as far W as the Blasket Islands, this site is comprised of an alignment of 3 stones, 7.55m long, with an outlier standing 60m to NE. The tallest stone, at the NE end of the line, stands 3m high and measures 1.7m x .4m at base. The middle stone, 1.38m further SW, is 2.2m high and 1.1m x .4m at base. The 3rd stone, 1.65m to SW again, is almost level with its neighbour and measures 1.3m x .5m at base. The alignment is orientated on the setting sun at the Winter Solstice (Lynch 1981b, 26). The outlier stands 2.9m high and measures 2m x .58m at base; ENE-WSW. Its NW face bears a series of rock art motifs including a cup-and-2 circles centrally positioned on the face; below this are 2 cup-and-circles, and grouped together at the base of the stone are 2 cup-and-circles with radial lines, and a cup-and-incomplete circle. In addition there are 7 plain cup-marks and a series of linear grooves (the dotted lines on the drawing represent uncertain markings). Immediately NW of this stone, a large boulder resting on 3 smaller ones was removed to make way for a track (local information). Based on the description and the context it is suggested that this feature was a boulder-dolmen; it is not unusual for such monuments to occur in close proximity to isolated or pairs of standing stones, although none have previously been recorded in association with a stone alignment (Ó Nualláin 1978a, 75-114). The tallest stone, at the NE end of the line, stands 3m high and measures 1.7m x .4m at base. The middle stone, 1.38m further SW, is 2.2m high and 1.1m x .4m at base.
