Listed in the RMP for Co. Kerry as an Enclosure, there is however no evidence or references in the paper file to the existence of an enclosure at this location. Therefore the classification has been changed from Enclosure to Standing Stone as this monument was not listed in the Kerry RMP. The Ardcanaght (Aird Chánachta/Hill of the Tribute) Stone, in the parish of Kilgarrylander (Cill Gharraí an Lóndraigh), barony of Trughanacmy (Triúcha an Aicme), Co. Kerry. National Monument Number 430. In improved pasture (20m OD), on a very gentle E-facing slope of low lying ground in the River Maine valley. Excellent views of the MacGillycuddy Reeks to S and Slieve Mish mountains to N. A smooth and fractured standing stone (dims. H 1.62m; L 0.95m; Wth 0.87m) with decorated surface (dims. H 1.55m; Wth 0.66m) bearing extremely faint and weathered rock art upon the ENE face. Very faint traces of approximately five cup-and-one-ring motifs (average diam. 15cm; ring Wth 4cm; D 3mm; cup diam. 5cm; D 4mm) are barely traceable upon lower part of this elevation. Three single ring elements and two two-ring elements may represent the remains of deeply weathered cup-and-ring or cup-and-two ring motifs. Known as the Ardcanaght Stone. A rectangular area (dims. 3.5m N-S; 3.5m E-W) around the monument is enclosed by a steel fence, separating it from rest of field. Both are now located in a modern enclosure beside a standing stone (KE047-026---- with rock art (KE047-026002-). This ogham stone (0.42m (above ground) x 0.43m x 0.15m) is badly damaged with the bottom lost 'as well as about half of the inscribed edge of the surviving portion' (Macalister 1945, 241, no. 246a). All that survives of the inscription is: ...]V MAQI[... [Son of]. Only two scores of the final I remain and the V was below ground level on the last visit. Listed by Dr. White as Ardcanaght I. This stone (0.86m (above ground) x 0.15m x 0.14m) was recorded by Macalister (1945, 241, no. 246b) as 'a pillar stone about 4' high, square in horizontal section: broken in two'. He read the inscription as LMCBLTCL LT. Broken in two pieces one of which is lying on the surface of the ground at the base of the standing stone. Listed by Dr. Nora White as Ardcanaght II. Dr White described the markings on this stone as follows; ‘Many of the scores are curved, rather than the usual straight scores and I cannot make any sense of the text. It is also difficult to be sure of the correct re-alignment of the two fragments’. Cross-referenced with KE047-037002-. Raised area (dims. c. 24m N-S x 14m E-W) with central depression (diam. c. 8m) in NE corner of field marks site of Children's Burial Ground. Annotated 'Killeen Old Burial Ground' on 1841 ed. OS 6-inch map where it is shown as a rectangular shaped area transected at E by field boundary running N-S located in NE corner of field. Area of uncultivated land in NE corner of field visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Two ogham stones were discovered inside this burial ground by the Tralee Field Club. They were removed from this burial ground and placed beside a standing stone (KE047-026----) decorated with rock art known as the Ardcanaght Stone which stands in a field 330m to the N.
