This site, not marked on the OS maps, is located on a level terrace on the lower NW slopes of Farraniaragh mountain, overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay to W. It comprises a small, poorly preserved enclosure. Enclosure: The area enclosed is of subcircular plan and measures 19m N-S x 14m EW internally. The enclosing wall does not survive at N and is partly overlain by a field boundary at S. Elsewhere its stony core is faced both internally and externally with uprightslabs set on edge. Some large boulders are included in the external facing. At E, in its best preserved section, it averages 1.6m wide and stands up to 1m high. No feature resembling an entrance is identifiable. Hut (KE098-088002-): Centrally located in the interior of the enclosure arc the low foundations of a subcircular hut which measure 6m N-S x 5.6m E-W internally. The wall averages 2.1m thick and features external drystone facing. The entrance, .6m wide, is located at NE and is defined by two parallel rows of upright slabs. Not marked on the OS maps this oval enclosure, 7m N-S x 12m E-W, is located on a terrace overlooking the Finglas river to N. Incorporated in its circuit are the foundations of a circular hut at E. The blocked opening to a souterrain is located adjacent to the enclosing bank at NNE. Intermittent stone facing of coursed slabs revets the enclosing element and some uprights flank its external face. The sod-covered wall is on average 1.8m wide and 1.25m high externally. The well-built hut (KE098-120001-) measures 3.75m N-S x 2.6m E-W internally, and its walls are composed of an inner and outer facing enclosing an infill of small stone. The wall survives .25m high and is 1.5m wide. The interior of the hut is occupied by much stone collapse. Large slabs block the opening to the souterrain, the passage of which appears to run N-S. This poorly preserved subcircular enclosure, not marked on the OS maps, is located in rough pasture on a NE facing slope overlooking the Finnihy river valley to E. The flanks of its earth and stone bank have no clear definition except at the downslope E side where the bank measures 1.1m wide and .8m high externally. The bank was originally constructed of stone, much of which was robbed in the 1940s for use in the building of the Waterville-Caherdaniel road (local information). The overgrown interior of the site is uneven and bumpy and measures roughly 20m in diameter. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
