There is no visible trace of the circular univallate enclosure marked on the OS maps. It was located on a gentle NW facing slope at the W end of the low ridge that extends W from Flemingstown mountain. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 616. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Ballinvoher Fort/An Lios: KE045-048----: Situated directly W of Ballyandreen village, on level ground about 200m E of a tributary of the Owenascaul river, this circular rath is enclosed by a single earthen bank and fosse. The 2nd outer bank, which encloses much of the W half of the site, appears to be a later field fence. The fosse is 5m wide at base and .9m deep below the external ground level. The bank is c. 6m wide at base and rises 3.3m above the base of the fosse and 1.2m above the interior. The bank has been levelled and replaced by a field fence along the SE sector, and it is here that the original entrance must have been located. The only feature visible in the interior is a large raised platform in the E sector. This measures 12m x 16.6m x .5m in height, and a depression near its centre measures 5m x 4.1m. A large flagstone which lies directly SW of the latter was said to mark the entrance to a souterrain (OSNB Ballinvoher, book 2, 2). The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. At the lowest and westernmost point of the ridge extending W from Flemingstown mountain, on level pastureland, is a standing stone bearing an ogham inscription along the N edge of its E face. The stone stands 2.3m high and is a maximum of 1.3m wide at base and an average of .6m thick; NNE-SSW. It is roughly rectangular both on plan and in elevation but decreases in thickness towards the top. Due to a combination of weathering, lichen growth and rubbing by animals, the inscription is faint and difficult to read, but Macalister's interpretation (1945, 161-2, no. 168) appears to be correct: IRCCITOS. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner. A price is the price recorded for a past sale, not a valuation.
