A circular area (c. 32m NE-SW) defined by a slight scarp SE-W, by a low rise W-N and by a farm lane (curving N-S) which truncates the NE sector of the rath. The interior, which slopes down towards the scarp at S, is undulating and slightly concave. This is probably one of the two raths (see KE058-029----) in the W end of the townland which were mentioned in the 1840s (OSNB, Kilcredane, 12). It is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on the 1894 OS 6-inch map. A children's burial ground (KE058-104----) is c. 200m to the E. In pasture, to the SW of a road, on the summit of a low rise. A roughly circular and slightly raised area (c. 32m E-W) defined by a low rise (Wth 12m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 1.15m) NW-NNE and by a slight intermittent scarp elsewhere. A road skirts the rath at E. The interior is slightly concave. This is probably one of the two raths (see KE058-028----) in the W end of the townland and 'near the children's burial ground', which were mentioned in the 1840s (OSNB, Kilcredane, 12). This rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). A children's burial ground (KE058-104----) is c. 170m to the SE. In pasture, on a NW-facing slope. A circular area (c. 28m E-W) defined by a low rise W-E and by a scarp, which slopes inwards towards the concave interior, E-W. The low rise marking the line of the levelled bank is most noticeable along the NE arc where it is adjacent to a field boundary. According to the landowner, the field is known as 'the fort field'. The rath is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m). This is probably the rath in the N side of Ballyhar which was mentioned in the 1840s (OSNB, Kilcredane, 12). In a rath (KE058-104001-). In the 1840s a children's burial ground was recorded in the W end of Ballyhar townland, close to two raths (OSNB, Kilcredane, 12). It is likely that the rath (KE058-104001-) which is c. 200m E of a rath (KE058-028----) and c. 170m SE of another rath (KE058-029----) was the children' burial ground referred to in the 1840s, though there are no visible remains of any graves or grave-markers in its interior. In pasture, on a gentle S-facing slope, c. 100m NW of Ballyhar House. A circular area (28m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 8.6m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.55m) SW-SE. The S arc is truncated by an E-W field boundary. The interior slopes gently down to the S. Trees are indicated in the interior of the rath on the 1894 OS 6-inch map and a rectangular tree planted area is indicated at this location on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. This is the possible location of a children's burial ground (KE058-104----). There are two raths (KE058-028----, KE058-029----) c. 200m to the W and c. 170m to the NW, respectively. On the E side of a road in the village of Ballyhar. The church is cruciform in ground plan (long axis NE-SW) with transepts at the NE end. The main door is in the SW wall. The walls are rendered externally with exposed cut limestone detail. There is a bellcote on top of the SW gable. Lewis (1837, vol. 1, 74) described this church as 'a modern building'. A road bridge (Wth c. 6.9m; long axis NW-SE), built of rusticated random ashlar limestone, spanning the Glanooragh River. The single segmental arch has shaped rusticated voussoirs and its underside is brick-built. The ends of the parapets are angled outwards to form refuge areas. This potential feature was reported by Michael Connolly, County Archaeologist, Kerry County Council. It was identified by him during the course of an assessment of a 40 square mile area for the purpose of choosing a road route in 2000 to the north of Killarney. In dense deciduous plantation, on N side of Glanooragh river. Access not gained; Accessed via firebreak to W and reached within c. 45m to NW of the grid reference provided. Reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland as the low remains of a small enclosure. Deep land drain (long-axis N-S) between firebreak and forestry. No potential feature depicted at this location upon historic mapping. This area is obscured by forestry upon modern aerial photography indicating that the area of the potential feature may have been planted (OSi 2010; Bing 2015).
