Internal diam. 19m N-S, 22m E-W A roughly circular univallate rath situated on the lower NW slopes of Brickany mountain overlooking the Anascaul valley. The condition of the earthen enclosing bank varies considerably. On the uphill side, it is .9 to 1.9m high internally and c. 1m high externally. On the downhill side, the interior is raised above the external ground level so that, though the bank is .5m high or less above the interior, it is c. 1.5m high externally. A small SE-NW flowing stream skirts the lower edge of the scarp in the NE sector. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. This site is located on steeply sloping pastureland on the lower NW slopes of Brickany mountain overlooking the Anascaul valley. It was shown as a circular univallate enclosure on the 1st edition of the OS map and was named 'Fort' on the Fair Plan. Faint traces of a roughly circular bank survive and are particularly noticeable on the downhill side where the level interior is raised above the external ground level. The remains measure c. 30m in overall diameter. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 627. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Internal diam. c. 16 to 18m This roughly circular univallate rath is very poorly preserved. It is situated in steeply-sloping pasture land on the lower NNW slopes of Brickany mountain. The earthen enclosing bank is preserved for a distance of only 11m at SE. It measures 1.2m high internally, .4m high externally and is c. 2.5m wide at base. The remainder of the E half of the site is defined by a 1.3m high scarp, and the bank around the W half of the site is only vaguely discernible. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 339. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
