According to the landowner, a souterrain system was uncovered several years ago which has since been closed up. In 1969 John Deady inspected a souterrain at Ballysheen, Abbeydorney, but he gives an incorrect 6-inch map number and co-ordinates, so it is difficult to distinguish whether this the same one. In 1969, four of the chambers which ran in a WSW-ENE direction were accessible. The capstone of one of the chambers was removed to provide access. All the chambers were beehive shaped and constructed of drystone walling. (JKAHS, 5, 1972, 160-61) The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. A parcel is the land of a title, not an address. The owner's name is in the Land Registry of Tailte Éireann: a copy of the folio can be ordered on landdirect.ie, for a fee; this site names no owner.
