This stone lies on edge on the upper S slopes of Knocknafreaghane, where it abuts the corner of a boundary which encloses a derelict farm complex. Its long axis lies E-W, and its E end tapers strongly. Its maximum dimensions are 3.1m x 1.35m, and its maximum thickness is .52m. The OSRNB recorded that it fell from an upright position around 1896. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. In boggy pasture, high on the S slopes of Knocknafreaghane, overlooking Kenmare Bay. A collapsed circular drystone hut with well-preserved internal facing at SE and W, at least .9m high. Its wall is c. 2m wide and the collapse, most dense at S, measures up to 4m wide. D: 6.9m. A fionnán enclosure with a central stone platform abuts the site at SW. Old field walls, partly submerged in the boggy ground, occur to S and W. They generally run NE-SW and E-W, average .5m high and are .8m wide. The above description is derived from A. On rough hill grazing on bog on a NE-SW ridge overlooking Kenmare Bay and the Beara Peninsula. The remains of several short stretches of relict field walls (L 7-25m; T 0.8m; H 0.5m) protrude above the surface of bog in a roughly rectangular area (c. 85m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW). Internal diam. c. 33.5m N-S, 34.4m E-W Lissaree/ Lios an Fhraoigh (?): This impressive bivallate ringfort is located in elevated pasture on the W side of the small valley that opens onto Coongar Harbour. The roughly oval-shaped interior is enclosed by two earthen banks separated by a fosse, the outer bank being preserved only from N to W. It rises from .45m to 1.5m above external ground level, measures from .5m to 1.8m high above the fosse and is 4.3m wide at base. A modern drain cuts through it at SSW, close to a trackway which skirts the site at this point. A short stretch of stone walling on its inner face at SE appears to be of modern date. The fosse is flat-bottomed and has an average width of 2.4m. The inner bank rises 4.25m on average above the base of the fosse and falls .5m to the interior of the rath. It is almost flush with the level of the interior at S. It is 4.7m to 6m wide at its base and tall trees crown its crest. Some large boulders were used in its basal construction. An entrance, 3.5m wide, is located at ESE and is marked on both sides by remnants of rough stone facing. There is a corresponding causeway across the fosse here, with a noticeable scatter of stone.
